every time i get on my car from 1st to 2nd its a powershift now. doesnt feel like its doing anymore damage then not lifting. just have to know what youre doing. half the people dont powershift because they dont have the balls. just hold it to the floor in first, pull back on the shifter as the revs are climbing, then stab the clutch and its over. and almost time for third. woohoo

Same here.

When I am pedal to the metal, I never lift to shift. The Tremec 3550 never complains, it just keeps on going.

What a moron....shifting hard enough to get sideways may not be the best for times or going the fastest, but some non driving fool couldn't shift hard enough to do it. With bald tires it's not smart though. I powershifted once on cheap bald tires with my 2.73 gears and I thought I was going to clean out a ditch. That was fun.

I did clean out a ditch once in my car, coming around a corner in first gear, lost the rear end, I don't know how I lost it(tires weren't even bald) but luckily I was able to correct and only got two tires off the road and NO damage to my car, I did however end up facing head on the guy who was just behind me

I have power shifted but don't feel the need to...I used to power shift in my 91 S-10 with a 2.5 4 cyl and I could chirp 1-2, 2-3, 3-4 and none of my friends thought I was serious untill I showed them.

I love powershifting but I don't do it anymore. With my tires/gearing it would do way more harm than good in a race.

Powershifting will anniliate a stock transmission in every case, no exceptions. Your stock transmission WILL NOT last if you powershift, mine lasted 3 months. I dont do it on the TKO either, it could probably take it though but I dont risk it.

I powershift everyone run at the track. I can shift pretty damn fast so theirs not a big difference between powershifting and not powershifting for me. On the street I take it easy, like someone said I have nothing to prove to anyone, I granny shift it. But once I hit the track, I powershift like a mother and she loves it! Well not so much anymore, I cant powershift 4th gear anymore, My 4th gear is going Time to save up for a tremec!

If your arm and leg move fast enough there really is no point in lifting anyways because the RPMs just don't drop that fast...I can't say i ever just mat it and leave it WOT when i shift...i learned when i was a rookie that if God forbid you miss a gear, you better trust in your rev limiter because you'll be redlineing before you can react fast enough to lift.

nah youll have enough time to lift. Like I said before, my 4th gear wont go in anymore powershifting, heres a video of me trying to powershifting it and it not going in. You can hear it rev but I still let off in time.

Well i say that because i've nailed my rev limiter (when i had one) several times because of missed shifts...if i'd have lifted then it wouldn't have happened. I guess that can be blamed on the driver but that's a risk with powershifting, everyone makes mistakes.

Now, let me ask this, why exactly is powershifting so hard on the tranny? Is it just because you're basically dumping the clutch with the rpms up in every gear and it just puts more stress on it? I would think as long as you're not missing and grinding gears there would be no real issues, but that's obviously not the case.

I would say it's because you're not letting the synchros do their thing. Like trying to put a square peg in a round hole, the shift forks don't like that.
