its a big differnce, the difference would be from chirping 1st to 2nd (bone stock car), powershift would send the car sideways in a 1st to 2nd shift. If you can nail every gear down the track powershifting, its an easy way to shave a few tenths off.

Maybe that's why i never do...i always have to pedel through 1st through 3rd or i break the tires loose pretty bad. I've gone sideways in 3rd. I guess if i ran slicks i could shift harder, but he harder i drive my car at the track, the slower it goes. It's gotta be "just right" or it's a wasted run.

Hmm, My low 13 high 12 second car on radials was easily powershifted at the track in every gear. I guess 245/45/17 Flaken tires are decent???

My car actually grabs very close to the floor, but it has never been right. Car was an AOD that we swapped a T5 in, and for some reason never felt like a stock T5 equipped car. Maybe thats why my dads 91 was easier to shift when stock?

I dunno. Shouldn't make a difference, really, unless your pedals are set up all different, somehow. My car's an AOD-T5 swap, too, but it actually shifts easier than my previous '89 notch that was a T5 from the factory ... but then, I had an HD clutch with a Zoom adjustable cable in there instead of a KC with a stock cable and FWA, so maybe that's part of it...

Ive compared and see a good tenth from it, and I consider my lifting and shifting pretty fast. Its free and will make the car somewhat faster.

Also mine has a stock quadrant, no firewall adjuster, but the cable is adjustable at the tranny. I have it adjusted almost all the way out and its still low. Ive gotten used to it though!

I prefer my clutch to let out really low, like half pedel or less. Right now my cable is stretched to hell and back and it lets out at the top and the cable is tightened all the way

If your cable is tightened all the way, that's why it's catching high. Tighter = higher. Loosen the cable if you want it to catch closer to the floor.

That said, I think I need to give mine a couple o' turns to tighten it. Cable might have stretched a little bit over the past few months, as it's getting to be more of a trick to shift at anything faster than a granny's pace without clumsily boogering up the shift with a nice CRUNCH sound.

Powershifting only gains you a tenth? If that's the case, I think I'll just keep shaving weight off the chassis to make up the difference for my granny-shifting, and not worry about the tranny taking a dump.

Powershifting only gave me a tenth (could have been a little more, not 100% sure) but my non powershifts are made as quick as a powershift, doesnt give the RPM much time to drop.

I havent had the tranny take a dump yet, so until it does I will continue to powershift. When it takes a dump, I will continue to powershift whatever replaces it.

Also to note, when your running heads up vs a car thats running the same timeslips as you, and its for $1000 in contingency, you DONT lift, and if you do, you lose the race. Been there a few times, the last thing you do is lift on a shift!

Edit: yes 06's have hydraulic clutchs, but I was talking more in comparison to my fox it releases and grabs high in the throw!
