If you need me, I will have my head in the sand.
Well good luck finding some in az....lol....Now dirt on the other hand....
But actually I did mean the timing cover seal. The circular seal that surrounds the crankshaft. That is the also called the front main seal, correct???
Or again, maybe I am forgetting what it looks like and I am losing it again.....lol.

Hmmm, Am I having a brain fart? My balancer's outer circumference goes inside the timing-cover crank-seal;
I seem to recall a slight groove on my old balancer's snout when I removed it - I was not about to do that seal on the car though (the timing cover is like tin). I think I greased the seal's lip and slid the balancer though.
Is this not right? It has been a couple years, but I thought I recalled that correctly........ maybe not.

No your not having a brain fart...you pretty much nailed it....the balancer snout does get a wear line from the seal though....

You are right...I remember now. Just took some time. The timing cover seal is pretty big and the crank has a nice gap inbetween it. Now I remember....
That is so funny. Sorry to make your brain fry.....But at least you have it down rock solid now......lol.

Yeah, I am glad we beat that fairly useless aspect senseless.mo_dingo said:You are right...I remember now. Just took some time. The timing cover seal is pretty big and the crank has a nice gap inbetween it. Now I remember....
