As you well know I blew out second gear. Well, I have decided to drain my poor bank account and get a used T-56. Now I know that I would need to shorten my driveshaft 3/4", but would it be possible to just use an '03 driveshaft? (a guy is selling tranny/clutch/flywheel/driveshaft)

Yes, but the pinion flange adaptor will be wrong. You'll need to swap the adaptor from your 01 shaft onto the 03 shaft. The 03 shaft uses 1350 u-joints as opposed to the 1330's on your 01, so you'll need to get a 1330/1350 combo joint. Get a Spicer if you can find it, and avoid the Neapco. I bought a Neapco first when I was trying to move the aluminum driveshaft from my 99 to my 03, and it wouldn't fit between the ears. I haven't tried one on a stock 03 shaft, but I imagine it has the same problem.
