My friend has a 2000 GT and he wanted a stroker kit but I told him that I would personally bore it .020" over, stick a Cobra crank in it, some H-beams, and some 8.8-1 pistons in there and feed it with a T-Trim a healthy dose of 12+lbs of boost. He told me that a 4.6 needs to be bored out at a modular mustang shop because a normal machine shop doesnt have torque plates for the 4.6. Yes, I know the benefits of using torque plates but he says: "my block cannot be bored over at napa or anywhere other than a specific mod mustang shop" and "the machine needs torque plates to do it correctly and very few shops in the country have them. If not used, it will screw your motor"
Is there truth to this? Napa didn't use torque plates when I had the bore my 302 .030" over and my car is a beast. Does the 4.6 actually NEED them?
