Does MAC T/B suck?

Me too my throttle body works great. People feel better by paying or a big name but its not worth it

Yep. Only company that I would pay top dollar for would be Accufab for those type of mods but I dont give **** about my engine bay looking shiney.

The Accufab TB is a quality piece, but whether or not it performs better is questionable. Still, all the plenum testing I've seen, regardless of the plenum manufacter, uses the Accufab TBs...so somebody else likes 'em besides me!?!? It ain't just the shine guys. Same with the plenum. Yep, it shines like a mother, and makes more power than the rest. In the $$$ for HP race though, the extra shine may not be worth it to some. For me, I wanted the best or nothing...at least for these pieces. And that's why my savings acct has $2.37 in it. (Seriously!)

Well, allow me to be the one with a complaint. I had a Mac 70mm tb on my car and I had a problem with it. I couldn't get the throttle blade to close 100%, even when I backed off the idle throttle screw. I called Mac and they weren't none to helpful. Guy on the phone sounded like an a$$hole about everything. IMHO, get something nicer like the FRPP or Accufab piece.

You have to take a piece of sand paper or a dremmel tool and grind off the left over metal from the casting.

I KNEW someone would pipe in on this one with a complaint about the MAC TB! MAC just doesn't seem to have a good rep around here. Geez, if you gotta sandpaper or dremel a brand new TB, they can keep it.

wow yet another newbie into modding. On most after market parts, you will have to do some modifying. No two cars are the same, no two parts are the same, there are always flaws.

Its not like its a Billett piece like Accufabs. Of course its not 250 bones for a worthless Throttle body.

If you have to use sandpaper on a NEW TB, I wouldn't buy it either. That's why people buy new, so that they don't have to screw with it. Satisfaction is the key to a successful company and product.

oh my god, never buy anything then. Most aftermarket parts will need to be messed with.

There's a big difference between wanting to mess with the aftermarket part to customize it a little or make it better. Dark Knight said his throttle body wouldn't even work correctly. There's no reason at all you should have to modify an aftermarket part for it simply to WORK. Either way, I'll be buying a MAC TB soon...so cheap.

He said he couldnt get it to close 100% I know this exact problem. Others and I have had to do the same thing. There are burrs on the inside where the butterfly closes onto a little edge. There are tiny burrs that stop it from closing complete and the car will idle funny.
