Does Size Matter?

Just wanting to know what you guys think on this...
I'm putting a K&N filter on a new fenderwell induction setup for my 5.0 ...
I've come across some 5" length filters off ebay that will fit nicely in the fenderwell.
Will a 5" cone filter be a restricton to my motor now? I plan on doing H/C/I soon. I have noticed alot of short CAI's use a big 10" long filter. Will a 5" filter in my fenderwell be a major restriction?

I wouldn't think that a 10" filter would fit in the fenderwell. A 5" filter drawing in cold air will be better than a 10" filter drawing in hot air from the engine bay. Also, at speed, there is a slight pressure created in the fender well that helps feed the engine.

haha, i dont think there will be any restrictions. i do think that you wasted money on a fenderwall cai, though. lastly, shorter filters with a wider diameter suck in more air than taller small diameter filters...

Actually $10 total was spent routing my existing short style pipe into the fenderwell with a 3" 90deg. tube.

Well the Pro M 6" shorty filter for a 77-92mm meter will support about 580-600 hp efficiantly.. So a 5" K&N style fitler should support what ever you through at it, especially N/A.
