I was looking at the new boss 302 short block, and was told they use the old canted calve ( Cleveland) style heads... I was hoping to put either 185 or 205 AFR ; which I know or a inline style head.... any advice would be greatly appreciated..

CR is 11:1 and the pistons are flush with the deck.
I find that slightly difficult.
What is your average cc for the combustion chambers?
I am assuming these are 4v closed chambers since there's no way in hell you're gonna get 11:1 from the open chambers.

Just to be clear here... we are talking about "canted" valve Cleveland, not the C3 yates.

I don't remember. I built the engine 7 years ago.

I'm talking about Edelbrock heads.

From what I can tell the BOSS 302 block based shortblocks have reliefs cut for the INLINE head, not a Cleveland style CANTED valve....that would be a very odd option.

This means you can run any of the standard inline valve heads, AFR, Edelbrock, Brodix, etc...even the TFS TW design with limted lift/duration.
