After replacing the shoes do you always run sand paper over the drum?
I didn't see any glaze on the drum it's self just looked like shiny metal from being grinded on
Did you get them turned or at least checked? The sand paper is the last step at the parts store/machine shop. If you are going to skip the turning step, I'd do the sand paper in a cross hatch pattern to seat the shoes right and avoid a "whooop whooop whooop" sound when lightly stopping.
what do you mean grinded on? if the shoes that came out were down to bare metal i would get new drums, they are cheap enough. also lubricate all moving parts well.
Typically no. If the drums are not worn, grooved, or too thin, clean, maybe with brake cleaner and reinstall.
If the drums have grooves from the old shoes, try having them turned. Lately, they are cheap enough that I get new ones most of the time vice having them turned.
