...when you come home from work and there's a Summit box waiting on your front porch? Even if it's just a couple of gaskets and bolts like tonight, there's something about an unopened box from Summit Racing that makes the stresses of the day melt away. It promises a weekend in the garage with the tunes cranked and wrenches spinning. It's a good night.

Couldn't agree more Dave. Matter of fact, I'm waiting on a whole bunch of boxes w/ big rotors and red calipers due in tommorrow.:nice:

I know I'd have more fun if I wasn't always pressed for time when I'm wrenching.

Yeah, I'm lucky in that I have a daily driver. If I start to get frustrated or need to do something else, I can just stop. To me there is a big difference between working on a car for fun and working on a car because I have to. Working on my Mustang is relaxing. Working on my truck is irritating.

Oh it's all my fault. I have other cars to drive. I just get so focused on a mental goal, that if I don't hit it I start to stress out. I do have plenty of times though where I can relax and I actually enjoy it. It's just easy to remember the frustrations. I obviously like it, otherwise I wouldn't have so many projects.

I never hit any goal I set for myself working on my car, although that's the way it starts for me every time I go to the garage L.D. ( That's why I'd suck as a mechanic if it was my job).
The good day/ bad day experience has now been "mentally modified" down to whether or not I got through the day spent in the garage 1). getting something done; 2.)not really getting anything done, or 3.) actually making something worse. I liken it to when I used to play golf. If I fixated on getting the lowest possible score, I hated the game. If I set my objective on how many balls I could lose, trees/water obstacles/sand traps/ducks I could hit with my ball, well,.... then golf really wasn't all that bad.:rlaugh:

One of the best days for me is when the 347 crate motor showed up. I had a tear in my eye.

Big wooden crate, removed the wood top to find this.

I don't know if it's 'age' or 'working' 60 hrs a wk and the stress that comes w/it ....but it seems like I have less and less time to get anything done on my project ...if I was 18 again I'd have my project stripped down - probably 1/2 way done by now ........but it does motivate me when there's a Summit box at the door!
