An article by AmericanMuscle says that you can find what transmission came with your car by checking the door jamb sticker. It says:

If you have a 6 as your first digit, you have five-speed manual, T-45 OD Mustang Transmission. This is the standard Mustang transmission that is found in 1996 to Mid 2001 Mustang GTs as well as 1996 to 1998 Mustang Cobras. If you have a 5 as your first digit, your car came with a T-5 OD Mustang transmission. Finally, if you have a K as the first digit in the "TR" code, you have a TR-3650. This Mustang Transmission is found in mid-2001 to 2004 Mustang GT, the 2003 and 2004 Mach1 and the 2001 Cobra. The 2005-2007 manual Mustang GT's also a T-3650.

But my code in the TR section is TRRBB... which doesn't match anything else I've seen. Does anybody know what each of them means? I know the first one, T, must be the transmission, and the other 4 are the springs, but what exactly do they mean? Thanks in advance.

The first pair of codes are for the front L/R springs and the second pair are for the back L/R. If you had the information for your make/model you would be able to cross the specific code to a part number and probably the spring rate for each spring.

So according to the first digit, T, what trans do I have? I know I should have a 199 t-5 world class t5 but just want to know for sure what it means there.

Means your car originally had an AOD from the factory.

There are really only two choices for the trans..either an AOD, or a T-5. All the other trans came after 1995. I assume this is a Fox we are talking about here right? You have a T-5...but apparently someone put it in there after Ford stuck an AOD in the car
