Damn thats HOT.....your not bad either lol :D

Seriously nice car. If you can get some drag radials. I prefer BFGs for a little be more life but if you want pure sticky go with some mickeys. Rev it higher and higher off the line during practise to see what your car will hold before losing traction and then go from there.

Good luck

I hopefully plan to take my car up there because there is a jerk who thinks he can beat me. :chair:
I'm not so positive I can win, but I think I have a good chance.

Nobody who has a GM 305 should assume they can beat anyone. Seriously, if you can drive worth your salt, then there shouldnt be much to worry about. You cant afford to assume you will win, but still....its a 76 Camaro 305.

BTW, Flippy kicks butt.

are you sure its a 305?

Yeah, I'm positive. He brags about it. Everyone I've talked to about it can't figure out why he brags, but whatever.

Do ya'll think that a 1976 Camaro with a 305 will beat my Mach 1 with a 351C?
Not if they are both stock, not even close. The Chevy 305 was a POS, 5.0 Mustangs had their way with Camaros until Chevy put the 350 back in. Domestic cars from around 1974 through 1984 basically sucked arse, I think the 1981 Corvette only had 160hp!

I beat a brand new 1983 Trans Am (the one with the turbo if any of you old farts remember those) with my old S-code (which had 140,000 miles and a little blue smoke from bad rings) and beat him badly.

Edbert, the 81 Trans Am had the 301 Pontiac Turbo motor. In 1982, they redesigned the car entirely (like Kit in the TV show), and they were powered with 305 Chevy engines for a while. The crossfire fuel injection was the highest horsepower model in 82 and 83. There was never a turbo in 3rd gen Firebirds.

Maybe it was a formula

It had an off-center hood bulge with 3 yellow lights that faced the driver indicating boost levels. Guess it could have been an '81 then, lost a lot of ability to remember details from the '80s...SOMEHOW.

Just to post repetitive advice.. :D

Practice launching the car as quickly as possible with no wheelspin. If you're anything like me you do this anyway at most stoplights. :)

I didn't see whether you have a manual or auto trans. I wouldn't recommend power shifting personally. Or if it's an auto, I would think you should just leave the car in drive as well. Just have the kickdown set properly so the car shifts at the proper RPM.

You should beat this guy, but I still think you want to practice - the more you beat him by the better in my book! Then you can tell him that he should come back after he puts a big block in his car, or maybe tell him to try nitrous. I've heard that it usually takes a BB Chivy to keep up with the 351C. Many Chivy people like to say that the 351C is a BB for that reason. :p

All tongue in cheek, but there's nothing better than giving a Chivy guy crap IMO. :rlaugh:

They put the 3.8 Turbo buick GN engine in a very small run of pace cars in the late 80s
