Drag radials guys,at what rpm can you launch??

My 555r's are fine in the rain I have about 8,000 miles on them and they have seen lots of rain this year in the D.C. area. I drive my car every day and have even used these tires in some light snow with out any major drama.

Right now I go at least the speed limit rain or snow with no dificulty; thought some Nitto 555 DR's would go nice with my Extremes up front, but I don't want to screw myself. This car never goes to the track, I'm just looking for a little edge around town. Not if it's going to only work when the sun is out though

I wasn't calling you stupid. I was just agreeing with noslo90. In my experience BFG DRs are a no-no in the rain. I went through 3 sets of Nitto DRs before switching to BFGs and the Nittos are fine in the rain.

I switched because the car is no longer my daily driver and the BFGs hook quite a bit better at the track.

I buy all my tires from Discount Tire Direct- for another $15 a tire they pre-heat them. I guess the theory is that you won't have to do a burnout before your run. That would bring it back up to the 15,000+ range, you think? Or just BS? Not that it matters, I never go to the track- but if it makes them launch harder all the time, I'd spend a lot less miles spinning tread off. I'm really curious about DR's because my suspension is hooked up so tight that with 450 Extremes it really only spins in first now, and gives me a good chirp in the next three gears- and that's if I launch over 4000. I suppose I could probably get a three gear brake stand out of it, I haven't tried- smokeshows don't win races. So I was thinking that DR's would pretty much eliminate my first gear spin since it's so good already, and maybe I could hook up on a 3500rpm launch instead of 1500 like I am now. My car really doesn't start making great power until 3500- it would be nice to be able to launch in my powerband with a chirp instead of a little burnout.

Gotta love the stuff salesmen come up with. I met a guy the other day who told me Discount warrantied his new BFG DRs for 30,000 miles.

DRs will hook pretty well on the street cold. But at the track they need a good burnout to work best.
