Drag radials..I had HEARD they are better when warn

All I have to say is after putting some miles on my warn (bald) BFG DR's I am NOT impressed with the traction...or lack of. I was under the impression that the more worn on dry pavement the better...what gives? Any personal experience with BFG drag radials? I have a set of spankin new 275/40/17's waiting to go on, but now I'm considering trading to a more street orientated tire...will the fresh DR's hook better on the street than say a fresh set of T/A's?

BFG drag radials are good worn, ON THE TRACK.

New BFG should hook well on the street.

I love Nitto's DRs.

I hope so man...we were out playin around on a quiet road and...well...I enjoyed all the lanes...was pretty ugly. I expected to really get a feel for the engine but tire spin in second regardless of starting point is just brutal...little spooky.

I don't mean to make the car out to be a beast..obviously far from it, but seriously I was very let down by the lack of traction on the street. I'd hate like hell to waste more $$ throwing on the same tire and ending up in the same boat.

Well the M/T drag radials should hook you up for sure.And the new Goodyear drag radial also is a nice tire ( I seen our local 10.5/stock suspension guy trying them out in thier nitrous assisted 565ci big block,55' Chevy with leaf springs ) and they seem to be hook with the M/Ts given the track conditions.

I almost lost my life to worn out Mickey's in the rain... in all seriousness. I spun out on the I-65 bridge over the Tennessee river at night in the rain in front of packed traffic... old bridge, 18 Wheeler swerved to avoid me, gaurdian angel in a small red car haulted traffic... not pretty. Get those replaced brother!!!

PS: On dry pavement worn they still wouldn't spin

...stuff like that changes a mans life...no joke about it. The tires will get swaped..I will put on the fresh BFG's in the garage and HOPE like hell they are an improvement!

well I have the rubber already so as much as I am bitching the wheels will go for rubber swap this weekend...I'm sure the new ones will be much better..I was just a little disapointed. carbed89notch however seemed to enjoy the experience...somewhat unaware of our near bad episode...

I switched from Nittos to BFG's the BFG's hook WAY better than the Nittos every did, and I am making 130 more rwhp on the BFG's.
