Guys,

Having being bit with the drag racing bug a couple of weeks ago I am planning on purchasing a set of rear drag radials and wheels and would welcome some ideas. The car is a 69 fastback with 5 leaf rear springs and otherwise stock suspension. I am leaning towards a set of Welds and some ET streets but am unsure of the tire size to get. I want the setup to fit under the rear without tubing or rolling the fender lips.
Any ideas on a good size and width which would fit the bill and help this old stang to get some grip?

I seriously doubt the 275/50/15 ET Street radials will fit without some major beating and even then on my falcon, the leaf spring itself provides a wall. Unless you got the 4.5" of BS wheels and let it hang out the side. M/T lists the tire as having 11.4" of tread width and is relative to a 26x11.5 slick

I had rubbing issues with my 26x10 ET Streets which are smaller than the ET Drag dimensions and come in at 8.3" of tread width. This was on 15x8 outlaw IIs with 4.75" of bs. I have some 275/60/15s on weld prostars and they rub slightly when someone else is in the car and it hits a bump in the road.

275/50's will fit fine with no modifications.
i've used that tire and a 27x11.5 hoosier on the same rim.

here's a pic of the 275/50's on a 15x8.5 rim:
