So Im a little new to Stangnet, been on Corral and others for awhile though.
I have some BIG plans for this winter, total rebuild of my 95 cobra.

All dedicated to my Dad who passed away when i was 3 and never got a chance to build his car. He left me his '85 GT and i wasn't fortunate enough to keep it. Im 18 now and with some help from my dad and his investments Im able to build our dream car, as well as pay for college. :hail2:

My plans so far are...(everything is the process of being ordered or already ordered

-Frpp Boss 302, fully forged blueprinted and balanced
-THumper Ported Gt-40 heads
-HP performance stage 1 turbo kit
-Custom Comp Cam(turbo)
-Spec stage 3 clutch
-fidanza aluminum flywheel
-Steeda tri-ax
-all supporting hardware-arp,cometic,ect

-MM SubFrames
-MM lower Control arms
-Have a MM starter Box installed... H&R lowering Springs, Caster Camber, Bilstein HD's

Exterior-
-Fr500 18" deep dish wheels
-Black Beauty headlights
-Possibly painting since car is pretty much stripped.

Interior-
-New seats (undecided)
-Autometer water temp, boost, air fuel, oil pressure gauges
-fixing headliner

Misc.
Battery relocation( can someone Pm me with some info stuck on how to connect fusebox)
Repainting engine pay

there for sure is more and this is all i can come up with. Haha. thanks for reading and any input will be greatly appreciated.
My experience is I've been working on cars since i was 14 , particularly 5.0 Mustangs. Before that it was DirtBikes and quads. I Like to think im mechanically inclined especially since I'm going to school for mech Engineering.

good luck with the build. being a dad with a dream of building my dream car, i can appreciate why you are doing what you are doing.

this time last year, i had similar plans ... i didn't get as far as i was hoping to on them.

my dream is to build a factory five cobra
 
Congrats on having a plan for your car, that will definetly help in the long run. The only advice I'd give is to skip on the Boss block, since the stock block is more than capable of handling the mods you have listed.

I agree. I was wondering why you would spend the $$$ on the block and a turbo set-up and then use iron heads. :shrug: (Iron heads MAY be better for a mild turbo, I don't know.)

Your best bet is to have a very solid plan that is WELL WITHIN the budget that you set. Then STAY INSIDE THE BUDGET! Don't go changing the plans halfway through, unless the inevitable extra $$$ spent is REALLY worth it.

Another thing for your build, do in a way that you think your father would appreciate. It sounds like you want a mild, turbo'ed small block Mustang that's built "right". Stick with that and don't let people convince you to "go bigger". (Or deviate from your plan.) Build it for you and your dad, not to impress someone else. (If you build it to impress someone else, you'll NEVER be happy.)

You mentioned something that it very important...you have college paid for. :nice: :nice: :nice: :nice: :nice:
It sounds like you've got a nice opportunity to build a sweet Stang. Take your time, enjoy it and keep us posted! Good luck!
 
my advice would be to have a daliy driver then build the cobra. i agree with the boss block, not worth the money, if you want stronger step up to a dart block. any thought to injectors/MAS or tune?

good luck, take your time and do it right the first time. smooth the fenders and paint the engine bay if you have the money, it will be worth it later.

My first Response is to TurboSnake95, i disagree with your statement, My dream car is one built by ME, to MY specifications, In MY way. In Other words all mine not built by someone else. Also this will be cheaper than any other car i can think off...GT40, GT 500, original cobra...ect.

What is wrong with the Boss Block? how much power do you think it can hold? Going with it because i got a deal on it because i was quoted for another motor they could not receive.

I do have a Daily Driver and I have invested heavily. Making at least 1g in interest per month.
 
I do plan to keep you all posted and probably be coming around for some advice.
I'm taking this car seriously, so please don't bash, I'm not just some young'n throwing money around, I've thought and planned for months if not years on what i am doing. I am young and i do realize i wont see the money i put in to this car back unless its in the form of my enjoyment.

I am going for 500hp at least and i believe its easily attainable. My dad wanted a powerful but different DD, he always told my mom what he wanted to eventually do and from what she has told me I'm picking up on

As for injectors/MAF/ Tune.... i have 42lbs that and My tuning is going to be done by Blood enterprises a local company that helps build components for the Shelby Super car.

I'm using the iron heads simply because i can. Its different just like how a turbo isnt the standard and retains some of the originality and i can still make decent power.:flag:

That's cool, I can relate to that:nice:

I have already done what you are thinking of doing with this build and more. If I had to do it over again, I would just go out and buy it already completed. I Also make enough money per year that if something major goes wrong I have enough cash to fix it. Building a nice Turbo mustang is not all roses and candy, out of every 100 that start the build maybe 30% complete it to the end, the rest end up parting stuff out and get depressed. But if your among the 30% that do make it to the end, It's an awesome car to drive:nice: .

If I was 18 and had a parent that passed away, and they left me a good some of money, I would hope to think a car would be the last thing I would spend it on. But age 18 was years ago for me.

As for these cars you have listed above :lol: , once again your only 18 years old. Do you truly need a 60,000-1,000,000 dollar car at your age? You just got out of high school:shrug:


Anyway's as said above I would recomend that you have a second car for a daily driver, because this project will take you a year+ , and unless your trully loaded and just pay for all the parts and labor up front to someone else, then it might only take about 4-6 months.

I also recomend that you live at this website: http://www.theturboforums.com for the next month or so and use the search button. It will help you with your project. Just please don't ask a question until you do a search first, the members at Turboforums.com (aka Turbomustangs.com) will eat you alive.

i believe if its a car that you want and will take care of and never sale its worth every penny spent on it because you won't ever get what you put into it.....but if your not gonna keep it i don't see spending all that money...good luck on your dream car though.....i'm currently doing that with my car.....its a rolling project...

First of all ... it costs you no money to have a plan and do some research
which
It does appear you are now doing :nice:

In the efforts of that research you should seek advise from those who have
done what you seek to do because they have the fruit of success.

This will ALWAYS cause you to modify your plans because you have gained
practical knowledge which prevents wasted time, efforts, and money.

It can take a while but if you stick with your research ........
You will see how your first plans were so naive :crazy:

I've been around this group of peeps on this 94-95 forum for quite a while
now and they are the real deal. They are trying to help you! They don't
want to see you have have regrets over wasted efforts, time, and money.

None of us wants to see you go through that kind of stuff.

All of us have made mistakes with our cars and how we have done
things in this hobby. These men here are ... Man Enough ... to share
how they have stubbed their toe a time or two and they just want
to help you ... NOT do the same.

Sure ... you are only 18 and you are a bit naive
but

You have little experience in this area as most other 18 year old fellows

So ... having said all that ......

I'd tell you to do nothing rash quickly :nono:

I wanna encourage you to not be concerned about your age and feel
you have to defend yourself or anything like that. These peeps are

Grady I get what your saying, and as for the condition and worth the car is in very good shape or atleast while it was in one piece :rolleyes:
Torque boxes are straight, frame is straight, body only has a few minor dents(that im going to smooth out). The worth to me is well.. i bought the car with my own hard earned money and well it got me laid for the first time :banana: :banana: LMFAO
Its a mustang and its 5.0 which makes it a perfect platform for me.. the basics which my dad loved..the 5.0 and a mustang and the sexy looks of the SN's for me.

My DD is a 5.0 BRonco.
