What's up guys. I recently (Last week) picked up a 2000 max. yea, yea. I know - a dam rice burner.amnit: I posted this question in the maxima forums but those idiots only know what stickers and springs are. They have absolutely no clue (most of them) about anything when it comes to auto repair and performance. (Expect for bigger exhausts, intakes, and turbos. I don't even think half of them know what a piston ring is . Anyway's the front rotors are severely warped, and it seems brembo sells a drilled (No slots on the max, To many negs on slots anyways) So, I come to the real auto guys for help...........
Both OEM and aftermarket rotors are more expensive than brembo's drilled, these cars are known for eating up several sets of rotors every year. Anyway's I read once somewhere that in extreme cold weather that drilled rotors have almost no stopping power until they warm up. Is this true??? My goal is to buy a rotor that won't have to be replaced in six months. I like the drilled concept, but not if I would have to lose stopping power. Keep in mind I will not be using this car for performance. (I may turbo it for extra passing power next year, but it won't be a racer-Daily driver only) Just wondering opinions. Any other down falls to drilled rotors?

EDIT: oh yea here is a link. http://www.cardomain.com/ride/2195944
Feel free to participate in the poll. Thanks

I don't think anything would go wrong with having them on your car in the winter.

Not the rotors, but some race brake pads require a good amount of heat for them to give the proper ammount of friction.

Maxima's are good cars.

I would want to ensure that the wheels are being torqued properly if warping rotors is happening too often.

I am with Jason about the pad friction material being more important than the rotor (having a deglazed rotor is most important IMHO, in terms of braking performance).

Good luck.

thanks. Knew I could count on my stang fellas. Ordering the drilled ones right now. One more question though. Would the drilled holes eat the pads quicker and leave more brake dust? Or is that solely the job of the slots?---I could understand how they theoratically could wear out a pad, but just checking with you guys..Also, will this void the "Lifetime warranty" that comes with most brake pads? Guess it really doesn't matter - Their getting ordered anyways - Just wondering what your thoughts where.--As far as torqued wheels. The maxima's are notorious for warpage.- I have yet to meet a orger on the max forum who didnt have them replaced w/n 30,000.
