drilling my stock rotors

Believe me YOU DON'T want to go there.

Just wait until you hear all the horror stories about how a friend of a friend’s friend friend’s rotor blew up and shot pieces of the drilled rotor for thousands of yards down the track and into grandstands and killed someone, or some :bs: like that. I think that's how the story goes. :rlaugh:

I’ve had the slotted and crossed drilled for over 4 yrs and never had a problem. Basically the drilled rotors are for looks from what I heard/ read and Baers Brakes says it also. The slotted rotors are more of what you’re looking for as far as cooling and stopping.
:spot:

You don't want to do that, if they don't blow up they will definitly start to crack between the holes you drill. If you want a bette performance brake rotor then you should just buy one that is designed that way.

one purpose of doing such a mod is to remove gasses which are inbetween the pads and rotors, and interfere with maximum stopping performance.

i will not get into the rest of it. there are lots of horror stories about drilled, but many people whom have never had problems, like A.S.

if you have concerns, i would offer that it is your brakes you are gonna mess with! i like Almost Stock's advice - drilled (most likely to have problems with cracking) offer nothing more than aesthetics for most folks, but slotted is money. i would go with the latter. just my two cents worth.
good luck.

yeah they offer nothing for performance. I have 4 wheel disc, with 13" front brakes, and i am staying solid, because I want reliability and performance. i don't want any brake failures when I am autocrossing, where my brakes often get abused, :p

I have drilled and slotted fronts, got them made like that, and I've had no problems. They've yet to crack, and they look good. I noticed better than stock braking, but that's because my stock brakes were shot to hell lol. One of my rotors actually shattered when we removed it and the mechanic dropped it from about 4 feet. Overall, they work like stock, because you won't beat your brakes hard enough to develop the "gassing" and heat people talk about and reap the benefits of the drilling/slotting. Remember, the streets aren't Nascar. Soon I'll be doing a 5 lug and rear disc conversion fron an SN95 stang, and I've already got a brand new set of cross drilled/slotted rotors in the shed for all four corners. I would not, however, recommend grabbing a drill and attacking your rotors. They have to be balanced, so precise hole location is a must. Go on Ebay, you can get a pair for like 100.00 or so, that's what I did. They're worth it if you need new rotors, but not if you just want the look.

definately not for looks, i need to start redoing the brake system with new wheel cylinders and pads with rotors up front. you would't be able to see the rotors anyway with the autodrag rims i have.
