hey all, replaces the t-stat and got the pony to start running in the normal temp range again, next problem im about to tackle is theres a clicking or ticking that is only present when the clutch is fully released, i.e., idling in neutral. The previous owner, who wasnt much of a car guy, said the a mechanic told him the throttle bearing needed to be replaced, so im pretty sure the throwout bearing might be the culprit. I am going to rip into it this weekend to see whats up, but wanted to post first to see if anyone has any suggestions. Also, the clutch has less than 1k mi on it. cable stretch maybe??

If it's a new clutch, give it some time. Seems like I have that same noise each and every time I put a new assembly in. In the meantime, I used my firewall adjuster to keep the slightest bit of tension on the bearing to eliminate the noise. If we're talking about the same noise, I don't actually think that it's the bearing. Instead, I believe that it's a combination of the fork and bearing making rotational noises.

oh thats good to know, the only thing i dont want to do is pull it enough with the firewall tensioner so that the clutch enters the friction zone and starts slipping. im gonna play around with it on friday when I get home. thanks for the reply tho.
