My driver side window will not close. I know that there is power going to it because when i press the up and down buttons the interior light dims. I had this problem once before but the car was under warranty and they fixed it for me no problem. Now i'm SOL! Is the motor shot? Where are the fuses located on the 02 GTs? Right now i am scheduled to take it in to my mechanic so that he can take a look at it. I feel a five hundred dollar bill coming. Which really sucks. Any advise?

Try holding down the up button and slamming the door while inside the car.

I recently had the same problem and posted about it. Someone suggested this and it worked.

I used to have better luck hitting the inside panel just over the motor while holding the up button.

Good to know that when i go in for work at ford due to a problem the tech charges 100 dollars an hour to slam my door while holding the up button down on my window and then call it fixed.

IF it is the same one they worked on AND it's been less than a year, the dealer HAS to work on it for free

or how about the IAC diag.

step one.. wack with hammer.

step two... start car

But seriously many times it's difficult. How about when it's not the motor and it's a wire with shaffed housing inside the tube between the door and body.

NOPE. The dealer is NOT required to repair a warrenty repair after the warrenty period is over.

The reasoning behind this is.

You ( the customer) did not pay for the repair becuase it was under warrenty, ford paid for it. now that the warrenty is over ford is not going to pay again to fix it. the way they looked at it is they paid for it and it laster beyond the period of time they are responsible for the car. so now why should they pay a second time after the peroid they are responsible for.

makes a lot of sense if you think about it.

This happened to me a few times when I leave my window down for a long time usually overnight or when its really hot outside. I first took the door panel off and hit the motor area with a rubber mallet while holding the up button and voila! window up. The last time this happened I just wacked the inside panel around the motor area and fixed it again.

Well i took it to my mechanic and he took the door apart to see what was going on. Then he walked back into his garage came out witha rubber mallet and hit the door right around where the motor was while holding the up button. Sure enough it went right up. I have the window closed right now because i don't want to take a chance of it getting stuck down again. I am going to order a new motor and have it replaced. I don't want to deal with this s**t again. Its gonna run me about 300 to get the new one installed. I think i'm done modding my car. I can't afford to pay for mods and take care of minor stuff like this too.

Thanks to all of you guys for helping me out. Luckily my mechanic didn't charge me for it. I know i can always count on stangnet to help me figure out my car problems.
