OK so I have the Exploder rear end pretty much in now after every conceivable complication.

The weld on the edge of the muffler is making very slight contact with the drive shaft. Here's how I've thought of handling it:

1. detonating a stick of TNT under the car

2. Grinding a little from the edge of the muffler

3. Beating the muffler with a hammer

Which if any would be the best way to solve this problem?

There's an H pipe a few feet upstream of the mufflers which sit under the rear seats, then theres hangers just aft of the rear axle. The H-pipe holds it in place pretty tight, I can't move it by pushing on it. I think the H-pipe would have to be cut and widened slightly.

Problem is, I've busted my tail to make a 'cruise night' tonight so it sucks that this would keep me from it. I think I'm gonna try to grind a little off of the weld on the muffler.

Is the whole system from the headers back one complete piece or do you have separate joints? Can you loosen the joints and the hangers put pressure on it in the direction you need it to go and then tighten it up? Depending on what kind of joints and hangers you have, you might have luck with that. Hammers work well too!

Tried the BFH, didn't do much good so I went at it with the die grinder and that did the trick! Got about 1/4" clearance and that was good enough to eliminate the rub.

Thanks for the input guys :nice:
