I have an '89 GT that Im in the process of installing a T-5 in. Well when the last exhaust was put on the car they welded the h-pipe to the cat back. Im going to have to take a saw to it too remove it. Can I test drive the car without the H-pipe in or will it cause me problems? Can the exhaust just be unbolted from the headers an moved enough to get the tranny out? Thanks.

well if the you take off the h pipe your going to loose your 02 so its going to make it run like crap... also its going to be loud.. i wouldnt think it hurt anything just going to get real loud...

and i would get the h pipe out of the way because your going to need all the room you can get one taking out the tranny...

It should be fine to test drive if you have long tube headers, but I would not do so with shorty headers. The tubes are very short, especially the rear ones, and you could cause engine damage running it with them open. Also, the heat and flames that will come out of the open shorty headers can do some damage under your car.
