DTC 0507 After Granatelli 62mm TB Install

I bought the damn thing off of Ebay from a guy whom said it was working when on his Mustang. He was selling it because he was selling his car. I questioned it but he assured me it would work properly. I appreciate you trying to help out with this. I dont know what else to do really, other than just scrap it.

I can understand your frustration, we have had several issues with changing out the T.B. on S197 cars we have 3 cars currently driving for 6 months or so with T.B. on and 2 or 3 that gave us some problems and have had issues from all vendors so we feel one is not better than the other, but when we indexed the the blades it seemed to help, also I have a instruction page from a vendor with checking and setting thr TPS I would gladly e-mail to you if you like.
As far as HP numbers on our dyno we saw 2-5 hp with the T.B. and I agree with keeping the stock one on, we have several blower cars making from 450-700 with the stock T.B, the only time we change them out is when the customer really harps on having it despite our warnings.
If I can help in any way please let me know.

I can't believe some of you want to put that granatelli crap on your car

Do a search about his products and think about what you are buying.

I wouldn't put anything mechanically functional on my car from them, but I have their STB and PHB on my '05 and haven't had any problems. Had I seen all the crap about them before I'd bought them, I probably wouldn't have, but you can't really go wrong with an STB. The PHB worries me because, it is slightly mechanical, but it seems to be holding up fine.

Hi Bluestorm, My e-mail address is [email protected]. If you want to e-mail me those instructions you have I'd like to take a look at them. This is my second TB. I had purchased an MMR TB which didnt function properly at all and they wouldnt accept a return on it, so I bought another very expensive TB the Granatelli and no luck with this one either.

No problem ill e-mail them over, also some of the problems lie with in the gears in the TB it self meaning look at them and se if they are brass or plastic, they found out in early runs of TB's that the brass gear sets were to heavy and causing problems with the motors moving them so BBK went to plastic gears and out of all we have used here the BBK ones are the only ones that have worked, but we are still testing all of them to find the best ones for our customers

Got the e-mail, thanks man. I'm going to go out and pick-up the volt meter and try what the instructions suggest. It sounds interesting and I definately havent tried that yet. I will keep you updated as to what happens when I do it. As for your comment about the metal gears. I thought the same thing about them being heavier and the motor not being able to compensate for the added weight of moving them. I think BBK had the right thing in mind with going with the plastic gearing. I hoping that what you suggested works or I may be purchasing a BBK! I dont know why I'm so set on 2-10 hp but I just cant get it out of my mind. Thanks for the help. Chris:flag:

No problem , I am always here to help out a fellow stang owner, but if you do decide to buy a BBK let me know as I can get you one from our shelf here we have 2 new ones and two used ones ( slightly used) because the customers switched them out when we went to forced induction on thier cars,it seemed the boost was causing problems with them but not when the cars were NA. and as far as power numbers like I mentioned we saw in about that range of hp on our dyno but what else do you have done to your car and do you have a tune in it, not a hand held off the shelf tune but a custom tune for you car , from a dyno session or street session?

GMS TB

Hey Buddy Hate to be the one to give you the bad news BUT GMS took them off the market about 8 to 9 months ago when they found out some units were having the same problem you have, with high idle. Also there were and still are aftermarket TB sold as GMS. GMS is working on some new TB design, don't know when the release is. If I could help call me. 1 OFF CUSTOMS 631-655-3665 Sal

Save it, since the 96+ 4 valve and 05+ 3 valves, there is no reason to increase or replace your throttle body, it is a blind market to just sell something to fools who want to buy something. You will run out of fuel way before you'll run out of air (intake)

I'm having trouble trying to get my multimeter to get a reading on the TPS. I'm trying to make contact with the yellow metal pin on the TPS but cant get it all the way in without possibly messing something up. I'm gonna try again tomorrow and I'll let you know how I make out. Maybe you should put one of those BBK units aside for me because I may need it. I'll keep you updated. I talked to Granatelli tech just to ask some questions and before giving me any response they just told me that I cant return it because it was purchased on Ebay. I said to the guy thats not why I'm calling and he was still reluctant to answer any of my questions?! Will post tomorrow. Later guys:flag:

I just cant get a proper signal from that terminal with the sensor still attached. No matter what I do I cant get it in far enough to get the reading. I guess I'm just **** out of luck. I'm gonna try to install the TB one more time with the new adjustments I've made but I doubt my sucess. Thanks for everyones help on this

One more thing you might want to try is resetting the computers KAM.
(Keep Alive Memory) The cars idle is stored in this area of the computer. Once this is cleared, the car must re-learn how and at what point to idle.

I have had a few idle issues in the past, and each time I re-set the KAM, the problem went away... then I would mess with my throttle body again.

I think the easiest way to clear the KAM is to disconnect both battery terminals for at least 5 minutes.

Best of luck!

Tried one last time to install the TB with no luck. No matter what I do the car holds idle at around 1050 and the rpms surge everytime I come to a stop. So annoying. Check engine lights with codes 2104 now. It wont even start when I index the blades exactly how granatelli claims. I have to turn the allen bolt almost all the way in to get the car to start. I then tried backing the bolt out to where I thought Granatelli claims it should be and it starts up but still idles incorrectly. Tried resetting the KAM as suggested along with the BBK suggestion but nothing worked. although I was never really able to get the BBK method to work cause I couldnt get a signal from the yellow wire on the TPS for some reason. It's a shame too cause the car is definately more responsive and would have put me over the 300 rwhp mark which is at 297.5 right now. Damn
