Dual 8" Subwoofer Box

First off, that amp is okay for that setup, but I dont know what the subs are rated, in terms of watts. If they are 150 or under then thats okay, if they are higher, like 200-400 then I would say get a higher rated amp. I had that amp once, I was going to use it in an old setup but I got rid of it cause it wasnt powerful enough for me. Rockford equipment is pretty good, top 10 for sure.

As for the sub box, well it really is just wood and nails and liquid nail for a basic sealed box. If you dont want any crazy designs, no bandbass, and no fiberglassing, then its easy. Just get a sheet of 1/2 inch, or 3/4 inch MDF, a lot of long wood screws, and a few tubes of liquid nail, the heavy duty one. Figure out how many cubic feet you need per sub, and then just make the box big enough so that each sub has the right amount of air to push around. For example, if you have a sub that requires 1 cubic feet of air in a sealed box, then you just make a box 1 ft tall, 1 ft long, and 1 ft deep. Just use the old geometry formula Volume=length x width x height. Screw everything together, cut the holes to fit the subs, and liquid glue all the sides on the inside so that its sealed. You will need to run the speaker wire through a small hole in the box, and then seal the hole up. Then just carpet the whole thing, or use vinyl or paint it, whatever floats your boat.

Making your own box is not only fun, its a lot cheaper then buying a box from somewhere, it will fit perfect because you designed it, it will be more durable, and it doesnt have to be gray or black carpet like every other box in the world. Ask if you need any help.

If'n you're dead set on 8" woofers, check into Adire Kodas, Elemental e8a's (discontinued), RE 8's, TangBand, JL8w7 ($$$$$$chaching$$$$$), or maybe even Kicker l5's or 7's. All those can be had for a better price (save for the w7 and L7), and most will outperform the Rockfords without hesitation. With woofers that small, I'd suggest building a ported enclosure and tune to about 35hz. This will give extra oomph to the lower end of their capabilities, which will be seriously needed in a Stang. Just slightly more difficult than the box above (simply add a PVC pipe to it).

I don't think you will be happy with a 8" driver. I listen to music that demands mostly sound quality over output, and even a single 10" in its recommended enclosure is slightly lacking.

very nice quality. It is an Infinity Perfect 10.1D in a 1cf enclosure ported to 32Hz with appx 400WRMS running into it.

or..if your cheap like me....walmart sells 8 inch subs rated at 200 watts for 20 bux,,,and boxes for 9 dollars ...thats 30 bux and maybe say 10 to 15 for wire and your done...thats just my 2 cents worth
