Hey Guys, This is kind of embarressing but I need a little advice.

I have my engine out, Pulled the intake, heads... Stripped. Was doing a good cleaning and gasket change. Pulled the distrib out to get everything cleaned out and ready for paint. The next morning my father was in my garage while I was still crashed and turned the crank a few times. I knew because cyl 1 had moved when I went out to continue working.

Can I reset the Distrib timing without having the valves in(Heads)? I mean the lifters were not removed yet. Is there a way to do it while watching the lifters some how? I'm just a little confused, I've never done it with the heads off.

Sorry if this is a waste of forum space ;) Just inquiring.

Thanks, Great Forum! :SNSign:

watching the lifters would be the same thing as watching the valves move, since the lifters are whats pushing open the valves you know.

crank the engine by hand and watch #1's lifers, when both shut start watching the pistons, once it gets close to TDC, then look at your balancer and put it right on zero. your now at TDC on #1's compression stroke. then stab the dizzy etc etc
