Dump exhaust or no?

It really depends on the mufflers.

I had long tubes with a pro chamber and flows dumped with my built 347 and it wasnt to bad.

On my 93 I have now I had stock headers, mac pro chamber with mac flowpaths dumped and I couldnt stand it. You couldnt have a conversation it was so rumbly.
Now It has prochamber with quiet flows dumped over the axle and its nice.

I want an american thunder cat back.

I'm really ineterested in this topic which seems to pop up every once in awhile. I have MAC 2.5 shorty headers, h-pipe and mac mufflers and I was thinking about dumping them. Too quiet for my liking.........even though I'm told they are. The rubbing and very little clearence is driving me nuts!!

I think on a stockish engine it doesn't sound so great, but on a raceir engine it sounds pretty good, but like mentioned it depends on the exhaust setup. Some mufflers just sound horrible dumped, some sound better with'em. Me personally i think i'm sticking with tail pipes from here out.

Yes and no.
While it can sound bad with certain muff's it can also sound very good with others.

Adding a cam is a sure fire way to make most muff's sound good. Like Doc's.
Im a fan of dump's.

The only two configurations where I've heard Dynomax Super Turbos sound good is either behind an off-road H-pipe (not X) with the side-exit design (inlet/outlet on same side) or dumped after an off-road H. Anything else, and they're just too damned quiet and tame in tone. The H makes the tone right, and with dumps or side-exits, they've got the right amount of rumble and no drone ... although the fumes rolling into the interior when you're at a stoplight can be kind of annoying. :ack:
