you all know the specs on the TFS 2000 stage 1 cam:

221/225 499/510 $159

i called Reed custom camshafts and got some specs on what a custom grind would be. his cam seems really close to what the TFS1 is:

222/228 510/510 $269

my question is this> the amount of duration between those 2 cams doesnt seem like a big difference to me.....is it?

this will be in a 306 combo (see my sig)
will the 2 cams sound and perform the same?.....or will there be some noticable difference?

can i save a 100 bucks and get the shelf cam and have the same performance?

awaiting some guidance

thanks
jeremy

What makes you think that custom cam is anything close to the tfs cam? You don't know the intake/exhaust open/close events, you don't know the LSA, you don't know the @ .006" lift and you don't know the recommended centerline.

LOL @ people who only look @ .050" specs :rlaugh: Theres so much to choosing a cam but people usually look at the .050" lift/duration and wonder if its too big or too small. I can't help but laugh ;) Most of us don't know cams so custom is usually the best bet but theres proven shelf cams.
