jeeze man... I might have to look into that... although, I will never be a fan of "turbo" superchargers... the cyntrifical ones just don't do it for me... it's only the "manifold replacement" models I'll only be a fan of... don't really know why, but that's just what I am...
-what did you pay btw? and how much for the intercooler? (basically, how much are you investing in this "one" mod? from your origional engine, to add the Supercharger...?)
$1000 for the used kit, $500ish for some missing parts, then another $1800 for injectors, MAF, fuel pumps, boost pipe, gauges & pod, battery relocation kit, etc.. most of which is highly optional + $500 for chip & dyno time
So you're sayin you like the roots type better? Yea I like them also, but they are more geared for stoplight to stoplight driving, and I'm kinda trying to build my car to be an open road burner..
good point... although, as you pointed out, I AM a stoplight to stoplight driver and the ocasional 3rd pull on the freeway (which, btw, I really need to get some help w/... I don't want to do gears yet... still trying to decide on the way I'm going w/ my baby, but I know I need to boost my mid range torqu (at least, I think it's torque))
Yeah roots blower will give you gobs of torque down low, but dont expect to have more than 350rwhp with it! Unless you go the twinscrew route...best of both worlds but not cheap.
35 hp loss is a comman factor used to measure drive train loss for rwhp under 500 ponies on manual tranny stangs..anything above 500 should use the 15% formula. Not really sure of data or testing, just experienced dyno jet owners that have been around them for 30 plus yrs is data I have. Not to beat a dead horse, but I am like most, the higher number which equates to the 15% loss is always nicer to tell your friends/co-workers....

Seriously though on the Roots vs. Centrifugal blower issue...why not get the best of both worlds with a Turbo? Better low end power than a Centrifugal AND the hard top end charge
And as for the drivetrain loss issue I've heard both and don't really buy either. There are factors that cause drivetrain loss to increase as acceleration and peak rpm climb but I doubt that it's anywhere near as much as a stratight 15% loss would indicate. It's probably something more along the lines of 20HP+5% for example as shown below.
