E-brake issues

When I pull up the ebrake it engages however the light doesnt come on. This wouldnt be such a big deal except the other day I tried putting the top back up and it wouldnt go up because it didnt think the ebrake was engaged.

If I ever so slowly pull up the the ebrake the light will come on then quickly go back off once moved again. I have to get it to come on then hold the ebrake in place as i put the top up. This happens when I pull the brake only about an inch or two up.

any suggestions would help.

check to see if the parking brake switch is loose.

Exactly. The switch is mounted to the e-brake under the center console. You might be able to adjust it if you simply take the storage area out, but you might need to remove the center console completely.

You can see it if you take the console box out.
