E-brake question.

Has anybody had this problem...and if so, what was your solution?

My e-brake handle has always been loose, side to side movement. Lately I notice that at random times I will pull the handle up and it will come up tight, then a loud click and the handle will go loose and the brake will not hold. So I lower the handle and raise it up again and it catches and works fine.

I haven't taken the assy out yet but it feels like the ratchet jumps and pops off. I figure if push comes to shove I will just buy a new handle/ratchet assy from Ford...but I didn't know if there was any fix anybody has done to avoid replacing the whole assy.

I just replaced mine with a leather wrapped one from 50resto. Its very nice and feels real solid. I don't know of any place you can buy just components of the e-brake except the junkyard.

Sounds like your Handle is just wearing out, I put a Leather Handled Handbrake out of a 98 Cobra in my 92.
