I made my own fan controller last summer and I was never really satisfied with it. On the 2nd of January I ordered a controller from Delta Current Control (www.dccontrol.com). They took my money and I have not seen anything from them, no parts, no email, NOTHING. I have sent them a few emails and they do not respond. I just sent my last email a few minutes ago and if they do not respond soon I will be taking action to get my money back. What are my other options? What controllers are you guys using?

Thanks
Brent

Brian (DCC) is a one man show...gets a little backed up meeting the requests but if you are able to wait then I would do so. The controller was THE best addition I have done to the electrical system to date. I waited 6 weeks (mid summer he was SWAMPED) and it was worth the wait. Email is not a strong point for Brian...he will eventually respond but your controller WILL show up.

I don't mind waiting but I need to know what's up. As far as I know he has taken the money and ran. I need some comformation that he has the order and is working on it. I can understand that he is only one man and he is busy, BUT if he had time to accept the money from Paypal and have my card charged then he had time to drop me a line. At the very least repond to one my emails. I guess we will see what happens.

What kind of controller did you build? Switches and relays or an electronic version? I have a PWM electronic controller in the breadboard stage.

It was switches and relays based on a diagram I got from you. I did it mostly to get me through the summer. I wanted to get something neater and smaller for the long term.

Maybe the guy's on vacation. As far as him taking your payment; I think that it's an automatic process with paypal. As soon as you send the money it's deposited in the other person's account. Maybe he just hasn't read his email or seen you deposit in his account yet.

discalimer: I don;t know this individual and have absolutely no vested interest in any of this......just offering an opinion.

Sorry that it didn't work well. I copied one of the ideas that used the stock computer to control the fan. I tried it and found that it didn't work - big disappointment...Maybe that was the one you had.

As I said, I am building a Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) fan controller. PWM is the same technique as the DC Control unit uses. When I get it working, I will probably put the plans up on my website. It will not be a project suitable for people without good electronic assembly and troubleshooting skills. I plan on using the ECT sensor to drive both the fan controller and the computer ECT sensor input. That’s a plus since it eliminates the push in the radiator fin sensors that seem to have some installation problems.

Everyone who has one of the DC Control fan controllers really likes it. But along with that, they would probably tell you that you pay your money and stand in line and wait. A 4 to 6 week wait time does not seem uncommon for some folks. Others hit it just at the right time and have theirs in a week or so. The email response tends to favor people that have problems. Brian (Mr. DC Control) has been very good about responding to posts for technical problems.

JR, that's a neat idear!

For the DC guys, as JR said, don't get too uptight. The way I look at it: figure it will take a month to get the controller and if it comes sooner, that's gravy. That said, I was one of the lucky ones whom got it quick and had several email exchanges with Brian before it shipped, and some afterwards (he even made me a custom schematic for an ancillary item).

Well I know Brian gets his email. He just won't answer them. This guy needs a customer service lesson. Like I said earlier, I am willing to wait but I need to know what’s up. I need a lead time or at the very least an order conformation. Brian would sooner loose the sale than give me that courtesy.

Jrichker,
The controller I built worked but I never felt comfortable with it. It is worth my piece of mind to purchase a small neat fan controller. I guess I will just search the net and see what I find.

Thanks for you help

The fact of the matter is that he's simply lying to you and that's no surprise to me. He sent the first email Thursday, I didn't email him back Friday so earlier today he emails me, implying that I'm a thief. I informed him that I was insulted and that I wasn't going to do business with him and that's why he's here now. With his permission, I will gladly post those emails. and forward them to everyone here with the original headers

See Brent, I told you you'd make an ass of yourself. Now, do I have your permission to post and forward these nonexistent emails?

I have not lied to anyone, nor have a made an ass of myself. I made this post to explore my other options should your controller fall through. If you look at the date and time it was made long before you finally replied to my emails. I don't appreciate you saying I lied to cover up your bad business practices. You need on work on you customer service skills in a big way.

I hope you were serious about showing emails. I don't really see the point but if it is what you want.

I have removed both our last names and the paypal transaction number.

Let's review, You send me an email Thursday, it doesn't get answered the
next day, so you're going to contact the BBB and call your credit card
company in order to "take action to get your money back", what exactly
do you believe that your implying? Let's hear it.

If you ordered cable for your tv and the company didn't return your call
the next day, would you then imply that they're thieves and threaten
them? What you don't seem to be able to comprehend here is that money is
nothing but a means of bartering, it's no different than trading an
intake manifold for a controller and your giving me money doesn't give
you a right to insult me and I don't care that you don't understand or
appreciate that fact. If you want to make an ass of yourself on the
forums, that's your business, there's no need to tell me about it.

Any business worth dealing with will send an order conformation. I would have settled for an “It will be a few weeks” after the first email, but I guess that was beneath you. After asking around I have found out that I am not the only one that has had problems with you. I did however have one person suggest that maybe you were just too busy answer emails, but that theory was proven wrong by your current behavior. It is people like you that give internet businesses a bad name. I have heard good things about your controllers, but service is paramount and you are not the only one making controllers. I will ensure that the Mustang community is aware of your business practices.

Now back on track. What else is out there?

IMO your anxiety got the best of you and result was you two butting heads....guess the good part is it sounds like the problem has been resolved, bad part is you both had to go through all that...not to mention you decision to go another route leaves you without an excellent product.

OK; you're correct, you posted in AM, not PM, my mistake, I apologize for that, but still, you’re portraying this as if you had emailed me numerous times with no response, when in fact you had emailed me once two business days ago, not exactly a stellar response, but not even remotely close to what you’re saying here. How does one possibly missed email turn into three or four missed emails? Look at your first post and look at your last one. If it was one missed email, two business days ago, why not just say that? Why act as if you’ve been diligently trying to get a hold of me without any response, what’s the point in doing that?

My point is pretty much the same, I miss one email and for that, you imply that I’m being dishonest both here and in your emails to me, do you have any other indication of that other than me missing a single email and do you think that it’s reasonable to do that given the circumstances? How do you expect me to respond to that, how would you respond ? I can’t think of anyone who would appreciate that implication, I think it was unwarranted.

As I said in the email, a lot of other venders seem to gladly put up with it and that's a large part of the problem, but it's no excuse. $100.00 buys a controller, it doesn't buy you the opportunity to say what ever you want to or about me. When I go out to a restaurant, I treat the bus boy and waiter with the same respect that I give anyone else, and although it may very well be common place to treat them like crap, it doesn’t make it any more right. I shouldn’t expect any less than that from you and I it’s something that I just don’t put up with, I don’t think anyone should.

you two need to kiss and make up, maybe there's a devil on his shoulder saying that he should buy the controller off you anyway...then you can send me one at the same time for a big stangnet discount!(say, 20 bucks and a can of worms?) sounds good to me
