Tired of my crappy E6 heads there just not working out for me. Will a set of E7 heads work ok with my flat top pistons? Like will they just bolt on with no problem? Really dont want to notch the pistons. Has anyone ever done this before? Even thinking about getting a set of thumper heads. Money isnt an issue, but i Dont feel like dishing out over 800 bucks for heads when it can go into my suspension and other mods

The Trickflow Twisted Wedge will work because of the design. If your runnig the stock cam it will clear but to much duration might cause piston to valve contact. And E303 cam would work fine or a cam with higher lift but not to much duration. IMO the Trickflow heads are very well build and are a quality part. Get the Trickflow Track Heat heads (Twisted Wedge with better springs, locks, and retainers) if you want some more RPM out of it. It either those or most heads with 1.90/1.60 valve combo(the trickflows are 2.02/1.60).

Wow, because the guy just said he didnt want to spend money on heads, but your all telling him to get heads. This is the only beef I have with this site sometimes. Honestly, the E6 isnt as horrible as people make it out to be, but if you want to go with E7's then go for it. They are really no different than the E6's so they will swap right over. Your obviously doing it for a performance gain so if I was you I would get ported versions of the E7 and if you cant afford that then get the springs upgraded at least so you can run a cam later. If your not timid then I would buy a dremel and touch up the intakes and really the exhausts because they could use some help. You dont have to be a pro to port. Just look at the ports and smooth out any obstructions. As for aftermarket heads you can run the TrickFlow heads or any 1.94 intake valve head. As for cams stay under 224 duration and .530 lift. The E cam with stock heads works great. I had an 86 long block and with an RPM intake, exhaust, and E cam the car ran 13.8 which is pretty impressive for being almost stock. And if you want to run roller rockers, you can get a conversion kit from Summit that saves you the cost of machining the pedestal mounts.

Well, he did say money wasn't an issue, so I figured I'd give the best advice I could.:nice:

Maby you should ask Thumper460. E6's are pretty sorry, they really shrowd the valves on the worse side. Since your are considering Thumper heads, I figure budget is an issue. Look for some aftermarkets used. A buddy of mine found some AFR 165's used with a valve spring upgrade which the guy he bought them from said they came to a total of more than $1500, my buddy bought them off for $900. If your really on a budget maby call some junkyards for some GT40P's. Then there is the middle of the road which would be thumper's. They might not make the power of the AFR's, but they will make more than GT40's.

If your car was mine and I was on a budget I would opt to try to get some GT40's and then later after they become an bottleneck, I would get them ported. AND don't forget it is easy to go too large with heads. I think TFS's are a little too large for a N/A 302, or at least that is what I have scene. AFR 165 seems to have the happiest customers making the best power and times. Either way you go, pretty much anything will be a big improvment. Do something about heads. Other mods really won't show up with stock E6's.

So basically I can just put E7's on my engine with no problem, thats all i was really worried about was the valve clearance, i'm running the stock cam in the car and not really planning on putting a bigger one in. New heads would be nice but i rather stick with a stock head right now, but thumper heads seems like the way too go right now. just wanna make sure i'm not gonna be smacking the pistons.

PS: I got a set of ported stock heads, $325.

They arent SEVERLY ported, lets say, STAGE 2 style.

Combustion chamber was smoothened out and opened a little, and everything was upgraded. The heads were drilled so it has STUD MOUNTS(ARP 3/8) and GUIDPLATES(ISKY)... along with .600lift springs by COMP CAMS(double coil). New seals.

Let me know. I am hessitant to ship, they are damn heavy. So if your in NYC, thats the price, and pick them up or I will deliver within the TRI-STATE area.

Sorry, didnt mean to plug this, just tryin to help the guy out, AND MY POCKETS! :nice:
