Ebay Predator?

Hey guys,

I am a newbie to the S197 Mustang, but not to Mustangs (I have had 7 others - 5.0s and New Edge 4.6Ls).

I have spent a lot of time searching and reading posts about these cars both before buying, and since.

I want to start my modding madness with a tuner. I have used SCT tunes on my other vehicles with success, but am considering a Predator for this new one.

I found this company selling the basic Diablo Predator for $282.95, which is obviously pretty cheap:

My question is this: What are the downside(s) to buying one this way instead of from a dealer such as Brenspeed? I realize it will only come with a "canned" tune, but can't I obtain an updated tune later once I buy more parts?

Thanks in advance for your assistance!

Frank

1. be sure they are brand new units. dont want to think you are buying a new unit and get a refurbished or used unit.

2. be sure they are unlocked.

3. be sure that the tune is included. also be sure to research the company and find out about their tunes. a more known company like bamachips, brenspeed, etc. have a proven track record. it is worth the extra $$ for peace of mind over a no name tuner. be sure to check into this company.

bigcat,

Thank you very much for the response.

The auction advertises the units are new.

According to Diablosport's website, it seems like they come preloaded with some basic tunes for stock cars (like mine).

I just want to find out how and where to get an updated tune once I buy more mods.

i just did a quick look at the first page of the diablo forums, these threads may help answer a few questions:

i am not too familiar with diablo, since i have a SCT tuner. contact them either by phone or the forums to get answers directly from them. thats your safest answers. i would hate to have someone tell you to buy this tuner, and it not work properly. here is a link to their forum:

hope that helps. :nice:

i agree. you never know what to expect when dealing with ebay. nothing wrong with diablo, they have some great tuners as well. find a dealer you like, and use them. dont be afraid to ask the questions BEFORE you purchase a tuner. also, check into the local dyno shops. see what they use. if you ever decide to get a custom dyno tune, you would need to buy a new tuner if you dont have what they use. if no custom tune will ever be needed, then it wont matter which you get.
