I have to rant a little. I just lost an auction for a set of 94-95 Saleen taillight bezels on eBay. Mind you I have been the high bidder for 6 days, and spent the last hour of the auction checking constantly. In the very last second, some a**hole outbid me by $1. The thing is, how did he know my max bid? I checked it like 2 seconds before it was over and I was still high bidder, but then I refresh the page and he has outbid me by $1. The current bid was $17 below what my max bid was, so how did he know to bid $1 more? This pisses me off, obviously some jerk using some sniping program, I hope he puts the bezels on his car and wraps it around a tree. I have been lookin for these bezels forever and came so close to finally getting a pair, damnit.

Oh well, sorry for the rant guys but I've been pissed off all afternoon about this.

I know how you feel, but if you put your max bid as X and the item sold for X+1 you shouldnt care because you didn't want to spend X+1.

I can relate, I've been bidding on a factory boot cover for our convertibles since early in the year, each time somebody runs the bidding way up for a used part. Kinda crazy, but if somebody wants to drop a 150 US on a top cover good for them, because I'm not. I just keep searching the wreckers & local swap meets till I get one.

Does a 99-04 boot cover fit your car? If it does May have one for you, and it would be way cheaper than $150. Shoot me a PM

His max bid was prolly alot higher than yours, eBay wont increse it but a dollar or so unless someone beats you then it will increase to what it needs to for them to be ahead. If you would ahve bid another dollar he still would have prolly won.

thats how you are supposed to bid on ebay. otherwise when people bid early the price goes up and up. it is SOOOOO STUPID to bid before like 30 seconds left. stuff would be so much cheaper if everyone did it. i hate people who bid early unless it is something I am selling.

ya lets say your max bid was $100 and with two seconds left he bid $150 he would win the item and pay $101.

I see what you guys mean then, my max bid was about as much as I was willing to put into them ($60, not really sure what they are worth), but I'm still pretty disappointed...I was really pumped to get them.

I have won many auctions that way. I have a connection which is faster than average I'm sure and I picked up at least 10 auctions in the last 10sec or so. I also lost a few that way...Thats what you have to do man.

Ebay calls it Proxy bidding, where it automatically bids to the next spot above the previous bidder unless the bid is smaller than the previous bidders bid. Make sense. I have stole alot of things this way but I have also had it happen to me quite often.

$61 + $10 shipping, my bid was $60 lol. I am not givin up quite yet, but these are hard to come by.

As far as painting my bezels black, I don't think it looks the same. I like how the Saleen bezels sharpen the edges of the lenses, looks more aggressive to me. Plus, if I get tired of the black bezel look, all I have to do is take the bezels off instead of repainting my tails back to rio red.
