i just won an item on ebay earlier today which was for a 93 cobra bumper and mounting bar .when contacted by the seller he told me that he removed the mounting bar from the auction a day earlier.i was at work and i bid on these items within the last few minutes of the auction ending i was unaware that the seller put a message that the auction was for just the bumperjust a day before the auction ended.apparently it looks to me that he was not happy with the way the auction was going . my winning bid was for 355 bucks which i felt was way more than fair for a used oem bumper and mounting bar.i am hoping to get ahold of the seller and he agrees to sell both items. what is funny is there already was a bid on the first day for 300 bucks for both items.i don't think he can change the auction when there is a bid in already but i don't know .does anyone know if this is the case?

It doesn't matter what we say, man. You just need to contact the seller and see if you can work it out, and then contact ebay and let them know what is up if you can't come to terms with the seller.

That said, there's no way the auction can simply be changed when there is a bid on it. That would let someone substitute a pinto for a corvette. It doesn't make any sense.

yes, he can edit the auction. if you failed to read all the way through the auction that is your issue. maybe he will be willing to help you out.

i know i am trying to resolve this with the seller but i was just curious if he could do such a thing being it is very misleading.there is clearly a picture for both items and there was abid in for both of these in the first day .on the sixth day to edit is just plain shadey.i hope i can resolve this with the seller

i would think you couldn't retract an item that was included in the auction with out canceling it an starting it over. if he can retract an item i would think i could retract my bid.

Well, looking at the bid history, the first bid of $300 came in 2 hours and 17 seconds after the auction started on Jan 2nd


On Jan 8th, he added to the auction

"This auction is for the rear bumper cover ONLY. The bar is NOT included. Shipping will be $130. to the continental U.S."


On Jan 9th you bid.




He can't edit his auction after a bad has been placed, but he can add a line to it like he did. So technically he is well within the rules by what he did. There isn't anything ebay can really do.

Your only bet is to talk to him, tell him you didn't see it and ask to mutually cancel the auction so that neither of you gets penalized. Then he can relist ( not sure if he'll have to pay again) otherwise if you want the bumper you'll have to pay full price even without the bar.

i am going to try to get ahold of him tomorrow but i have never seen anything like this.i am a buyer and seller with an excellent feedback on ebay and would never think to do anything like this.i recently sold a wing on ebay and took a100 hit on shipping on my own because of the outregous quotes i was getting for shipping.

i spoke with him by e-mail and he basically had sold these items on ebay a couple of weeks ago .the winning bidder realized that shipping was going to kill him so he backed out of the deal.the seller reposted the same items and there was a bid on the first day.6days into the auction the previous winning bidder decided he wanted just the mounting bar and the seller decides to sell him this while the auction is going on with only a day left on the auction.he puts in alittle note on the bottom that it's only for the bumper only a day before the auction ends so yes i am pissed off.the seller seems like a stand up guy but he really is in the wrong here.the e-mail he sent me verifies this and i could go to ebay with this but i won't .he did tell me that i can back out of the deal and no questions asked.this was the only piece that i had missing from doing a complete cobra clone with all oem parts.oh well

Bottom line is the seller can change the auction at any time unless there is less than 12hrs left on the auction or a bid has been made on the auction. But if there was a bid before he changed the auction it can be negated and you can file a complaint or work with the seller to give you a partial refund or come to an agreement.

i haven't sent him a payment yet and i'm still probably going to try to negotiate with him for the bumper .of course it won't be for the 355 winning bid price he will have to come down significantly or no deal.i will have to go back and see when he put in the little note but i think it was less than 12 hours to go.

Then when he relists the bumper only, tell him to send you the link and you'll bid.
