I Posted up a link a few weeks ago asking if anyone had tried the $35 shifter from ebay. I got the usual MGW vs. TriAx vs. Pro50 banter, but a few people said they had used the ebay one with great results. For $35 I figured if I didn't like it I could resell it and make my money back. Anyway, I installed it 2 days ago and I love it! It turns out it's actually the Summit Racing Billet aluminum shifter:
Summit SUM-700008 - Summit® Billet Aluminum Short Throw Shifters
I guess the guy was selling them wholesale on ebay because he had a bunch, and it came in the Summit box with the Summit part number and everything. The only issue was the actual stick was mounted in the shifter backwards! I had to take the shifter apart, and flip the slick 180 degrees. It only took 5 min, and fit perfect after that. Those of you with 3650's will see in the pic in the link below what I mean.
On to the review:
Overall, I really like this shifter. I had both an MGW and a Tri-Ax in my '95, and honestly this one is just as good. It has the notchyness of the Tri-Ax that I loved with the smoothness of the MGW. The throw is awesomely short, and very quick through the gears in my Bullitt. I recommend this shifter to anyone who wants something really nice but doesnt have $200 to spend.
