I have the intake/heads and a set of 1.7 rockers.
I'm looking at possibly changing out the cam if I can get 15-20 more horses by doing so.
I'm looking for an OTS cam that has a power band from idle-5800 that I can just install straight up.
I would appreciate any comments on a cam from those that runs or has run a similar set-up.

Thanks

You'd probably be best off just putting the 1.7's on the stock cam. It will work quite well with the intake/exhaust/GT40 heads. Many cars out there with similar combos in the 12's with the stock cam - and no drivability/idle/mileage issues.

i think that 5800 is a bit high for that combo. what heads are they: performer or RPM?
anyway, an E or B cam will work nicely with that setup.

Therein lies the problem N8 - can't have your cake and eat it too; while the E and/or B might be better above 5000, they're going to kill that combo from idle to 2500....

this is true, Mike. the other problem is that most cams like 1.6 rockers, not 1.7. although some are made for 1.7s, you will have to pick out the one that best suits your desires and goals.

...the stock cam will work just fine with 1.7's...and it will be pretty close to the peak lift the GT40's saw on the Cobras...

Thanks Mike,Nate.
I think I'll stick with the stock cam and the 1.7s.
