ebrake cable problem

ok. i noticed a screeching noise while driving my car.. pulled the ebrake moving..slightly..stopped then comes back..put my car on the lift.. had my brother pull the ebrake. and the passenger cable doenst retract..the spring does not move back. any ideas? need a new cable? spring? hmmm

I haven't had the pleasure of working on the ebrakes system, but I imagine that there are 2 seperate cables, and the right one is disconnected either at the ebrake handle, or somewhere down the line.

Try inside the car first, then go from there.

it is not disconnected. b/c it pulls it shut. just doesnt return..i hate ford ebrakes lol

I got a recall notice on mine a year ago or so something they had to do to the ebrake mechanism, might be worth a call to a dealer to see if your car needs that work done.

I bet the cable itself is bad. My pass cable sticks and all I have to do is move teh cable around and it slowly releases...

Do you have any details about that recall????
