Engine ECU Question

I'm the original owner of an 89 5.0 LX, 5 speed. It has low milage, but as I'd like to keep it for a while, thought it would be a good idea to accumulate some spare parts while they're still available. One of these spares would be an ECU. The original part number is E9ZF-12A650-A2A. Some vendors have these, but they're over $700. I've found another less expensive one with a part number of E9ZF-12A650-AA. Would anyone know if these are interchangeable? Thanks for any help.
I had that same mindset and not for over 4 years the spare sits in a guncase along with a tuning chip installed......LOL

All I know is that from what I read both ECUs are both A9L...

I have 3 A9Ls. One is my original, known good spare on the shelf. Two has a Quarterhorse plugged in. So, I can just plug and play it into the stock harness connector and tune any car I want to. 3rd takes a J3 chip and it's what I use daily... at least in theory. I never took my quarterhorse one out of the car. Still plan to... eventually.

I recently took a closer look at my spare A9L. It’s an original unrestored one. A couple weeks ago I plugged it in to the car and it worked perfectly. Although, on visual inspection of the board, I could see one of the resistors has a little bit of corrosion where it’s soldered to the board. That greenish crusty stuff. I guess I should swap it out for a refurbished one sometime soon

Someone posted this on Facebook the other day, still ran with an idle surge.. Imagine paying the stupid asking prices for a " factory sealed" one and cracking it open to find that lol.

That looks rough. More than just capacitors corrosion. That thing was left out or it went under water at some point. If it was costal I suppose salt air could do that too.
