ECU Software question?

[bds9646]

Hey guys, new member here (not new to stangs). My question is whether or not any freeware ECU tuning software is available (similar to what the subaru guys do). I am sick of paying dyno fees and really hate parting with another 400 bucks on a handheld. I know I sound cheap but 2 kids and a mortgage limits the budget. Thanks!

im not trying to dump on you but how will you program the ECU with free ware software if you dont have the tuner to plug into your car?

i think he's asking if there is any computer software that he can use to tune his car instead of using a handheld tuner. not all cars need a hand held tuner but just a PC program or something similar to tune the ECU.

Our mustangs do not have any open source software like Subaru's and Mitsubishi's. I've looked before and found nothing.

The Subaru guys just buy a USB to OBD2 cable for $120 and tune their ECU's with free open source software.
