Edelbrock performer VS. Gt 40

Which is better and which will give me more bang for my buck.

The Performer intake is a better all around intake. The GT40 and Cobra have similar average flow numbers, but the Performer has more consitant flow across all runners, whereas the Cobra/GT40 has fairly uneven flow across all runners. You can pick up a used Performer for around $300 without much effort.

As far as money goes, I think the Edelbrock is a little cheaper and does have better numbers. I am partial to the Gt40 though. I have seen people make a lot of power using them. I have one on my car and love it. You have to be careful though. Edelbrock makes a couple intakes. Make sure you get the one that is right for your combo.

for your set up right now, the performer might be the best option. it will also be much cheaper for a used one. I dont know why, but the GT40 intakes are hard to find and hold their valve...not sure why though. I think that the gt40 is like the cobra...just fancier

I don't see a head change in your sig, so either intake will work well and most likely will be insignificant power difference. Buy a Cobra or Explorer as they are much cheaper!

Go with a Performer intake and it will later compliment your car if you add heads and cam later...the Performer is more bang for the buck...

I've only seen a couple, but I think if money is your main concern, then probably the performer, I think they provide similar results. I am also partial, I have the gt-40, I performed the swap w/stock heads, could really feel a difference, didn't have any before dyno numbers, but ran 245rwhp, 292 rwtq, w/the intake,maf,headers,off road, catback.

Nothing scientific for you, but I have a friend with virtually the same setup as me w/ a GT40 (I have the Performer) and I always end up in front of him by a carlength or so. Obviously there are tons of variables, but when I drive his car it seems less responsive in the low end and about the same up top as mine. And for what it's worth - I installed my intake by itself (well, along with 180* thermo) and noticed a pretty big difference afterward. I had an accufab 70mm tb on a port-matched stock intake before that. I'm sure it won't give you the 37hp Edelbrock claims (hah) but it's definately noticeable even with stock heads.

Everybody is biased to what they bought. Results depend onm a lot more than just the intake. Here is a sampling of results with all types of intakes............

the performer intake would be my choice but both are good intakes.

why not do the headers, h-pipe and then add some 1.7 roller rockers (easy to find used on the classified forums). it would cost you about the same price as the intake, benefit you more now, and most of that you can do yourself

The Performer is the better intake overall. More expandability, flows better, even flow. The GT-40 is still a good intake, see what you can get them for and go for the better price.

Well i Have a set of headers waiting to go on im just waiting to decide if i wanna go off road h or x im not sure on that yet i figure i would rather do everything all at once over a weekend then a little at a time. And would roller rockers really help me on stock heads?
