Okay, I've just been soldering and finishing up my main harness because I wasn't happy with the soldering & butt connectors it had on there.. and I came across a red wire w/white stripe that has been cut and left alone. I traced it to the 'salt & pepper' shaker, the white one, and after tracing it from there to the injector harness, it goes along all the way to Cyl. 5 and is cut off there as well... appears I dont need it. But, does anyone have a wiring diagram that shows which wires are for those salt & pepper shakers? The wiring diagram I have, for '88-93 does not show a red wire w/a white stripe... closest I see is an orange wire & white stripe, but this one is definitely Red w/white.

I bought this harness off ebay and it was setup for the 302 firing order due to the cam that I have. So I'm figuring it may be because it's for the 302 firing order..?

www.fordfuelinjection.com has pin outs for the main computer connection.

use a voltmeter set to resistance to probe the salt/pepper shakers and the computer connection (you'll known you found it when the resistance goes to 0).

look up the pinout and that'll tell you what it does.

IMO- it must be nice to own fordfuelinjection because they are obviously doing great! How do I know they are doing great???

Because they must have so much business that they can just ignore people looking to be customers... (they never responded to any of my purchase questions...im a little bitter)

Carry on...

I have the full wiring harness diagram for the '91. I will look at the diagrams tonight and post later. I am almost positive that it is for one of the sensors, thermostat I think. Most people I have talked to have been using the original thermostat wiring run, rather than cutting into it to patch in through the "salt and pepper" shaker. (that description cracks me up)

t stat doesnt have a sensor.

if its going to the number 5 cylinder then it is probly the IAT sensor. kinda looks like the temp sesor almost exactly on the other side of the intake. the sensor will be in the #5 intake runner on most intakes.

You guys haven't spent enough time over at 5.0 Tech. Two big round plugs, one is black and one white. What else could they be called?

I agree with the theory on the IAT sensor. Hate to say it, but you'll want to fix that wire so you can use the sensor. The IAT tells the ECU to fatten up the mixture in cold temps and to lean it out when things get hot.

If it is Red w/ a white strip then it is a wire that runs from the engine temp sender to the brown 8 pin connector, and then to the temp guage. I am looking at the BIG wiring diagrams from Ford for the '91 Mustang (24" x 48"). You can also look at this page, http://fordfuelinjection.com/index.php?p=6, scroll to the bottom and it will give you the Salt and Pepper connectors wiring.

Thank you much, it was the Temp sender, and also I discovered the Oil PSI was disconnected as well... I figure I'm just going to use the original wiring which runs directly from the gauges to utilize these.
