Hey all, new to the forum and wondering if I could get some help with someone who has experience with springs. I apologize ahead of time if this has already been brought up, please let me know and I'll check out the link.
I have an 06 GT with stock 17' wheels. I had the local speedshop install the eibach pro- kit which should have been a 1 to 1-1/2 inch drop with no need for caster camber plates. When they had finished the install the car looked lower than 1-1/2 inches. They explained that the 06 had MacPherson struts unlike the 05 (i thought there was no difference in the model years) and because of that it dropped the car lower than they thought. They said there were no caster camber kits available (doesn't sound right either) and they would need to grind down the struts to get the alignment right. They called eibach and got some weird answer about spacing bolts and stated they had found a kit locally and could install it on the cheap. This shop came highly recommended from a trustworthy friend who had his 03 gt worked on there. They admittedly have not worked on any 06's yet.
Has anyone else had these issues? Is this shop yanking my chain or did eibach release a product before reviewing changes to 06? Were there any suspension changes between 05 and 06? Do I need some kind of camber kit for alignment? I really don't want to have them grinding down my struts if they don't have to. Any help that you guys can provide would be much appreciated.
