electric fan - fan controller, is this one good?

I just wanted to know if this fan controller was any good, Im not to sure about the probe that you just push through the radiator. Those of you out there using it or heard of it please shed some light.

It is far and away the best one out there - nothing even comes close. Got one on mine, and now I'm wondering why I ever screwed around with switches and relays. Saves wear and tear on the fan, the alternator and the cooling system. Top notch - one of the best single mods I've made to the car. HIGHLY recommended.

I also bought a electric flex-a-lite fan (Black magic) and was also wondering about that probe thing, also purchased a FMS alum rad , both will be installed monday.I also bought some water wetter is this good stuff and can you run it at the track(cause out my way you can't use anti freeze if your car is old then 1995).

WW is good to go at most tracks.

i did not see prices on these fan controllers (delta). if someone does not mind my asking, are they pricey? if there were prices listed, tell me to learn to read.

Trojan - that "controller" is just like temperature switches - it's a simple on/off switch at certain temps to control relays. It won't vary the current/speed of the fan to minimize start up spikes and to control temps more accurately. You'd be much better off just buying a regular gauge, and the dc unit to control temps.

Yup - just trying to help you spend your money wisely - I saw the price on the gauge - yikes! For the same price (more or less) you can have a quality gauge and the 35A controller.

I just put one on my fresh mods - may fire it today or tomorrow. The sensor is pretty small and puches right into the radiator fins no problem

Tom - to test mine before I fired it, I put the underdrive jumper on - with it on, the fans run at least at 10% all the time; 100% with a/c on. Then I hit the ignition switch, and turned on the a/c switch. Sure enough - low, low speed with just ignition on, and they ramped up to full speed when the a/c switch was hit.

A question to Michael Yount. I am currently running a 94-95 stock electric fan with a twin relay setup (to handle more amps) wired to a manual switch inside the car. Would I need to buy the VC-1235 along with the TS-104 or TSE-104 to work with my setup. Also note that the fan has 3 conections on it 1) Ground 2)Power Low Speed 3) Power High Speed. I have it running on the Low speed side now and it runs fine even in the summer with the A/C on. Would I just hook it up to the low side and would it allow me to get rid of my Relays? Any help would be appreciated.

Email Brian Baskin at DC controllers and ask him your questions - he can tell you what hardware you'll need. He has WAY more experience than me in this arena - he knows his stuff. I'm gonna guess he's gonna say the 35A unit is more than enough, and you'll probably wire it to the high speed wiring so it has the potential to run the fan full out; if your car doesn't require all the fan speed to keep it cool, it simply won't run it at top speed. Yes, it will allow you to totally do away with your relays, and that primitive manual switch. You'll be able to select a control temp and forget about it.

Mike - my instructions talk about the jumper but the instructions DO NOT say what terminals to jump for the minumum speed. Which ones did you use?

Jumper 13 and 14 for underdrive pulley effect. That results in 10% min. speed all the time; 100% speed when a/c clutch line is triggered. Remove that jumper, and you get fan speed only when temp calls for it; 50% fan speed when a/c is triggered. I'm running w/o underdrive trigger; and with 5-7, 8-10 jumpered for a 187F control temp.
