Eliminating Wheel hop

Im jsut wondering how to get the best results drag racing with the 99 cobra irs. All I have right now are the eibach lowering springs, I was thinking of getting some new bushings. There are so so many though is solid aluminium better than polyurathane? Ford racing also has a 2000 cobra r irs brace, I was also looking at steeda/kenny brown which one would you suggest or what should i do first to get the best results?

I have been headed full steam to a solid axle, but for some crazy reason today I decide to keep the IRS and continue to spend $$s in quest of "limited" wheel hop. See I can not even say "no" wheel hop. I am trying the Maximum Motrosports Rear Coil-Over kit for Koni SA shocks. I swear this is my last try!!!

Here is what i am ruinning right now.
1) Eibach 2000 Cobra R Springs (lowered maybe 3/4 inch, but serious LBRs like 750-800)
2) GKN stage III perf 1/2 shafts
3) Griggs Delrin control arm bushings
4) Steeda Poly Differential bushings
5) Koni SA shocks
6) Paul's Performance IRS brace
7) Kenny Brown Super Subs
 
Solid axle for sure if you really care about straight line. If you are mostly on the street and like the IRS, then do what you can to reduce wheel hop.

For me, the solid axle was the way to go.
If this was my daily driver, I would have kept the IRS...but it only sees weekend cruises and the occasional track outing.
 
Thanx alot, I'll probably just try to beef up the IRS since I drive it everyday. Can you really tell a big difference, suspension wise, between the solid and IRS? I'm asking bc if the ride is not that bad, I might just change to a solid axle.
 
I'll let you know this spring...

I had the solid axle and Viper trans put in early January and it's been in storage since then. Put about 30 miles on it before I put it away. Only difference I felt was no wheel hop when I stomped the gas. I didn't beat on the car as all the parts were new and have to be broken in some. I did put a lot into the rear end though....svo UCA, Mega Bite Jr LCA, shock, springs, gears, diff, 31 spline axles....so it should hook like a mofo (going to run ET Streets at the track and BFG DR's on the street) and give a decent ride.

I have a buddy with an 01 Cobra with Big Bore 5.0, P&P heads, and cams and is keeping his IRS. He has all the major IRS upgrades and sub connectors and still gets hop...but, he likes the IRS and doesn't want to go with the solid axle. He's making close to 400 RWHP n/a. Thinking about doing auto-x this year.

I seriously considered the swap, but I drive my car on the street way more than the track, so I decided to just replace all the bushings and add a Maximum Motorsports pinion nose brace.
 
You can't beat the feeling of the IRS....If you are going to stay on the street or even road race keep the IRS...If your car is a dedicated track car then it is a no brainer to go with the solid axle...I plan to eventually break into the 10's with mine as long as the bills don't get too high
