So Monday evening, I'm sitting around a local coffee shop with a bunch of my friends, who mainly drive Camaro's, and naturally there's alot of trash talk between us. Anyway, all in good fun, I tell a buddy of mine to hop into the car so i can show him some Ford power just a few very attractive ladies pull up in another 94 Camaro Z28. I'm feeling cool and ready, let go one of the biggest smokeshows I've done yet with a few donuts in there, and right after around 720 degrees, I find my car without power steering....

My camaro buddy in the car laughs, as I stop the car, get out, and find my auxilary belt lying in the middle of my tiremarks 35 feet behind me. Well....you can just imagine the ensueing laughter and embarassment. The belt was fine, must have just slipped off, but because i was without my driver's manual, and under the hood no longer has a diagram of the belt configuration, it took me near an hour to sort it out. In this time, it seems that I ran into EVERY person in this city that I haven't seen in years..these people only to see me cursing and swearing at my engine bay. My camaro buddy has pics and I'll post them as soon as he sends them....quite funny actually, but I'll never live this one down. The good news, the attractive girls ended up dipping at the lake here in town with me a few hours later, and followed up on it to make it the best night of my entire life by 6 in the morning. Silver lining to every cloud, right?

your belt slipped off? How the hell did you manage that one? If it was that loose wouldnt you notice your alt not charging properly or your steering get harder?

I dont see why they were razzing you over that. The belt comming off really has nothing to do with it being a Ford or Chevy. Ford dosent make the belts they just put them on the cars. You should have said.... BUILT FORD TOUGH, IT DIDENT BREAK!!!!!!!!!

To these guys, it doesn't matter what it was, the bottom line is that I messed something up, and these guys will use any reason at all to laugh at a Ford if the hood's up. (I think it's a self reassurance thing)

Zach - Strangely, the belt wasn't loose at all, no cracks, nothing, the belt wasn't stretched at all, and hasn't given me a problem since I put it back, everything charging fine and steering is good. It confused me too....
