Does anyone have a link handy for removing all emissions on a 91? I searched and searched. I'm starting to think my searching skills suck.

heres what i took off. smog pump and all the tubing going to the exhust capped off the EGR at the valve and the stock headers or headers i took off and capped the tubes comming off the back of the heads removed cats. i think thats about all there is? do you have DEQ where you live? OH yeah to replace the belt without getting the idoler pully for removing the smog you need a 88.5" or it's 89.5" belt that is if you have all other acc. hooked up. peace

Thanks. It sounds fairly easy. I live in IL, they passed a new emissions law - 1995 and later models are exempt after passing 1 last time. I passed last summer. So I am good to go! I worried about emissions for years and it's finally over! Now I get to clean up my engine bay!

Both EVR and TAB/TAD are located in the engine bay on the passenger side behind shock tower

The TAB and TAD are to do with vacuum emissions and smog stuff. Just off the top of my head from what I remember. The tab is thermactor air bypass, and it is attached to the hose that is attached to your smog pump, the tab is just like a on off switch controlled by vacuum, vacuum is turned on by the tab solenoid on the inner fender wall. The TAD works the same but instead of working like a on off like the tab it diverts the air rather than just bypassing and getting rid of it. On the inner fenderwall there are two of these tab tad solenoids side by side and either above or below is a larger one that looks similar that is a egr solenoid, that kinda works the same way, it applies vacuum to the egr valve.... to open or close.. If you have cats the smog pump will keep them from turning red and this will improve emissions. The EGR just re-circulates the exhaust gas which I believe is helped by one of the directions of the divertor (tad) the other direction is to the exhaust... that pipe that hooks up to the h pipe!

Anyways so if you guys are going to remove this stuff. Just make sure all the other vacuum lines are still hooked up. There are a bunch of little T-vacuum connectors.. Some of these can be removed. Eg. on the back firewall there is a vacuum distributor (on the driver side) and one of the vacuum lines runs to the passenger side firewall where there is a smaller distributor, and from there some of the vacuum lines go in through the firewall, and I think a few may go through your fender. Anyways right from there you can cap off the lines going to all your tab, tad, and egr stuff, if you are getting rid off it. If you buy a vacuum line kit to run some new lines to replace the old ones that you may need to keep, just run an additional vacuum line from where you want to cap off to the blank spot on the vacuum distributor on the driver side firewall, and just keep the extra little cap if you need to test your vacuum.

It isn't that hard to figure out, just don't leave any open vacuum lines if you want your car to run right!!! CHEERS!

Ya, but don't unplug the ones through the fender.. only do the ones where you know what they are going to.. You'll know what I mean with the three solenoids that send vacuum to the tab, tad, and egr. Because you will see 1 vaccum line going to each of the solenoids, then one vacuum line going from the solenoids to the different things, tad, tab, and egr. The source of those three things will definitely be coming from the vacuum distributor in some way. Just trace your way through, and after taking off what you are comfortable taking off. Just keep the ones plugged in if you don't know what they are going to! Feel free to msg me if you need any more help!

To find those solenoids, if you open the hood and go to the passenger side, in the engine bay near strut tower but between there and the firewall, on the side of the engine bay, you will see those solenoids. It's much easier to take off your cold air intake or regular intake!
