Engine Bay Progress Pics

Well after I blew my motor I got a bit carried away and started tearing the engine bay apart. lol. This is where Ive gotten so far, the only holes that were filled were the ones on the strut towers. I pick up the new motor this morning so I'll be sure to get pics of that too.

I, too, love 'progress' threads. Keep us posted. Looks great!
You doing anything to customize the actual motor? By the looks of the pic of your engine bay, it's going to be hard to see where all of your hard work went.

LOL that was the first day I bought the car....Lets just say everything under the hood is now brand new and everything else has been painted or polished. Keep in mind this car has no smog ac, egr or pcv anymore. It will really be clean under the hood with minimal wiring.

Carb and intake

The most unecessary thing I've ever bought. lol Aluminum catchcan

Still wrapped up. I'll be painting it black

Shiny new holley fuel pump

Some of the parts...some werent painted yet in this pic

Heres just odds and ends. The stuff like the alternator and ignition box I plan on upgrading soon so I just painted them a natural aluminum colour for now.

looks awesome man, you should really hit up the junkyard anf find urself a nice 3g, that would be easiest to do with the motor out and on a stand.

I really gotta wait. Ive been spending way too much money on this thing and I have to draw the line somewhere. lol next year I'll get all the "luxury" stuff done.

What kind of long block is that? Heads?

I just decided to build a simple combo and see how it runs. It was built by a local machine shop. I spent alot of the money on the bottom end of the motor, and then I can just bolt on a nice set of heads at a later date.

Here are the specs
-stock block, .030 over
-Wiseco Pro-Flo pistons (lightweight and forged with nice valve reliefs)
-Fully Balanced and Blueprinted
-Polished crank
-resized rod bolts with ARP hardware
-new valve springs
-Holley 650 cfm double pumper carb
-Holley Fuel Pump
-Weiand Stealth intake manifold
-Stock ported heads (heavy on exhaust side)
-Trickflow stage 1 cam

thats all I can think of off the top of my head...It should run decent

Damn....i can't compete with that up there but i've come a looooong way with my beater.

Actually, it has a Vic. Jr. intake on it now and a Malory Unilite distributor, but it's pretty much the same.

Well Ive got some more progress pics. Dont mind the hideous wiring harness that is thrown everywhere. I have to go through all the connectors that arent used anymore and cut them (probably about 80% of that wiring will be gone).

I still have to loom the wires and hook a bunch up as well..
