Need a whole lot more info than that to even formulate a guess.

What heads, solid or hydraulic, intake, more specifics on the cam?

Bettre yet, tell us what you're looking for and we'll tell you how to get there if possible.

From that description it could be anywhere from 180Hp to 350Hp. Top speed is anyone's guess...

besides what i listed, assume everything stock accustomed to what the 66-68 mustangs had on a 289. i was hoping to find a trush exhaust, got wind from somewhere that they were still out there. but baisically it will be a flow through style exhaust. there will also be a shelby hood on the car.

No disrespect intended, but you're being way too vague in your components for anyone to be able to give the specific info (or even hazard a guess) that you requested.

I have a pair under my car. I'm not crazy about them, but a H/X crossover would help.

http://www.thrushexhaust.com/

Just as a comparison, my engine parts could be reasonably expected to make between 275 and 300rwhp through a manual. My smog/blower cam is a bottleneck, though. 9.3:1 compression, btw.

We can't make educated guesstimates without a fairly specific list of parts. "Glasspacks" and "high lift cam" are not specific.

I hate to say it again but you're way to vague. I can tell you what I've got and what it made on the dyno.

289 block bored 30 over
Stock Crank (blanced with the fly wheel and balancer and weights for pistons and rods)
Forged Eagle Rods
HYPEREUTECTICS Pistons
CompCams Extreme Energy 274
Heads are World Windsor Heads (Lots of work done by my bother's friend Joe)
Weiand dual plane intake
Holley 600

Dyno'd at 349.7 (350) HP

Here's a pic of the dyno run, btw this was on a engine dyno.

guys, i appreciateyour patience and realize your frustration.

to give you a little background, im only 16 and have worked on a 47 international with my dad, and this is panning out to be my first project that will be of my own. just recently i started to get serious and came up witht he folowing specs:

standard 289 V8 (except the folowing)

holley 390 CFM 4bbl carb
eddlebrock dual plane highrise maifold w/square flange
hooker competition headers w/ 1-5/8" x 28" primary tubes and 3" collectors
thrush glasspack, 3" in/2" out x 27-1/2" long
round air cleaner (generic b/c i havent decided yet)
Voodoo hydrolic mild-performance camshaft .483in/.499ex 256*/268* (degree)

most of these parts were found through jegs

keep in mind this is a 68 that will hopefully have a shelby hood on it.

if you need any more information, please feel free to heckel me some more

No intent to heckle, jlangholzj. Personally, I appreciate that you're wanting to learn and to work on the project yourself.

Reconsider your carb size. If you're looking for any 'pop' from this engine, you'll want something bigger--probably around a 600 cfm size.

thanks alot guys, after seeing what some of you and others have said, i also came to that conclusion. and theres really not alot of a price difference between the two.

any other thoughts on my other options? many will strongly disagree with me about the glass packs, but i want that same sound, b/c from what i gather, thats what just about everyone had "back in the day".

lol, also can you guys keepin mind that im not exactly rolling in the dough. ill probally buy the car and paint it, get it looking good(the engines in decent condition) and probally add the headers and exhaust first, then let my bank account recover )

You may want to keep an eye on ebaymotors, too. Just don't get caught up in the action and go crazy bidding, and keep in mind that if it sounds too good to be true then it probably is. I got a few good parts for my 89 GT (which I've since sold), as well as my 68 coupe. I actually just got a Holley 600 cfm carb the other day off of ebay. It was used for about 1 1/2 months and I got it for ~1/2 the new price. Haven't put it on yet, but all looks good upon delivery.

EDIT: Some good prices on good parts can be found on Fleabay, but the easy-to-find deals are mostly gone. I got my Fidanza aluminum flywheel for $289 shipped several years ago. I also got a Ford 2.3T EFI computer for $13 shipped.

We were just trying to heckle these specifics out of you. Since you delivered, we're done now.

The Hooker Comps are a good all-around choice. I noticed you picked glasspacks with a 3" inlet and a smaller outlet. You're not looking at the type that bolt onto the header, are you? If so, opt for the standard ones instead and get some good header reducers(like from Hooker). I would also suggest a larger pipe size like 2.25 or 2.5". If you want that '60s blub-blub-blub boat sound, leave the exhaust as true duals. If you want it to sound better, have an H or X style crossover installed(H will be easier for an exhaust shop). I rigged up an H in my car a few days ago and it made quite a difference in sound quality. I'll have to get some before/after sound clips.

Also, a really good dual plane intake that might save you some bucks is a Weiand Stealth. Something that might save you money on ALL your parts is shopping at Summit.

thanks alot for the tips guys, actually most of my items are cheaper through jegs than summit, except the voodoo cam, wich was $70 cheaper. and the weiand was also more expensive than the eddelbrock.

actually for the most, jegs was the cheapest. if you know of any other dependable parts stores, please let me know

I've had good luck with Jegs too. Especially the 2 day fedex shipping they were running a few months back, maybe still.

Consider some new heads, my setup isn't far from what you are building, usually I am left wanting more when behind the wheel.

World Windsors seem to be good on a budget, there are a few others popping up on fleabay --generic Austrailian deals, might be worth a try... Maybe RHS...
