My car just started making a chirping noise and it is coming from the motor. The noise is faster with more RPMs U=I can't tell exactly where in the motor it is coming from. What are the possibilities? It has 157000 miles on it
Thanks

I would check to see if your belt is old or loose. Also, check to see if anything is rubbing against a moving part while the car is on. Also, check the bolts on all your pulleys, they could be loose. Finally if you have a stick it could be your throw out bearing, even thought that sound would come from further back.

Another possibility are the bearings on the idler pulley and the belt tensioner pulley.

My guess is this or the TO bearing.
I was surprised how quiet it was under the hood after I changed my idler and tensioner pulleys. I didin't think they were making much noise, but with the new ones on there is a night and day difference (mine weren't "chirping" though).
